The majority upheld that the city of New London, Conn., could declare as urban blight the Kelo house and the well-kept neighborhood it was in so that the city could sell it to a developer who promised 3,169 new jobs and $1.2 million a year in tax revenues.
Four years later?
Nothing.
The land the city stole [not legally stealing because Ruth Bader Ginsberg told them they could do it] truly is urban blight today, Katie Nelson of the Associated Press reported.

This really made my day, and I am laughing my head off at the City of New London.
I called the City of New London and told them I was glad the development project fell through, and that they got what they deserved. I also E-mailed them the same sentiments.

...not legally stealing because Ruth Bader Ginsberg told them they could do it... Actually it was the Connecticut Supreme Court that told them they could do it. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to overrule them.

So much for those new taxes they were hoping to collect. Now they don’t even have resident taxes.

If there had been no litigation, which took years to work its way through (the court system), then a substantial portion of this project would be constructed by now, said John Brooks, executive director of the New London Development Corp. But we are victims of the economic cycle, and there is nothing we can do about that. In other words, if those pesky landowners would have just rolled over and given you their land instead of trying to keep their homes, things would be up and running by now.

This is what happens when it is done for the greater good, the collective, and they public welfare. Maybe if the build a A ball baseball stadium they could name the team the Feral Cats...Not! PETA would not approve!

Maybe they could hire some hunters to go in and wipe out those feral cats!
A .223 varmint rifle would be just perfect.

From the article:
Some protesters even tried to turn the tables on now-retired Justice David Souter, trying unsuccessfully in 2006 to take his New Hampshire home by eminent domain to build an inn.
That would have been poetic justice.

Looks like there's nothing left to do but make the place into a gun club and shooting range.

Still a major victory for the left.
They
destroyed a source of income
created new homeless
set a precedent that the State can seize anyone’s property at any time for any reason
failed to produce anything of value
It’s a liberal’s wetdream.

KELO really chaps my ass, damn, did they ever get it wrong with that one. Grrrrrrr.
