WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Secret Service is investigating an online survey that asked whether people thought President Obama should be assassinated, officials said Monday.
The poll, posted Saturday on Facebook, was taken off the popular social networking site quickly after company officials were alerted to its existence. But, like any threat against the president, Secret Service agents are taking no chances.
"We are aware of it and we will take the appropriate investigative steps," said Darrin Blackford, a Secret Service spokesman. "We take of these things seriously."

I've seen posting that said the EXACT SAME THING here on Fox comments. Why are "news organizations" different than someone on facebook? Read through some comments on Fox and tell me they are not offensive. I MEAN OFFENSIVE! I think ppl shoulf have to post their REAL info if they want to make comments. Names addresses, email and phone. If we can say anything, we should have to take resposibility for our actions....not jsut post a "user name". And no...i'm not posting my info here now.
Sounds like this guy would like to kill people too?
That’s not too bright.
Not just Obama, but actual PEOPLE too?
And, irrespective of whomever posted it, why would anyone be so incredibly stupid to posit such a question in the first place?
I don’t use facebook (it’s stupid) but it’s like having your own personal web page/blog thingy, it’s not facebook staff, it’s just gazzillions of folks with no life.
=====The U.S. Secret Service=======
Now the government listens to them....Geesh.
Oh wait, they didn't.
Id bet it was put up by an Obama supporter.
“its just gazzillions of folks with no life.”
Hey!!! I have a... oh wait, no I don’t. ;o)
I wonder what lib set up that poll trap? If it would have worked, they could have had a nice list of ‘terrorists’ to round up for Nepolitano’s internment camp. People need to be on guard to these liberal traps which will be set with inceasing frequency all over the Internet.
Only poll I saw on FaceBook was... Would you vote for Obama in 2012? I voted no. It was something like 82% NO...
I remember when people had diaries.
They kept them locked and were considered private.
Nowadays, many (young) people publish their ‘diary’ along with complete photo albums of themselves, their friends and family, along with their real name, address, and email.
How convenient for perverts.
>>I dont use facebook (its stupid) but its like having your own personal web page/blog thingy, its not facebook staff, its just gazzillions of folks with no life.<<
For those of us with family and friends far away, MySpace and Facebook are the ways we can still keep in contact. I’ve had people ask to be my “friend” on these sites. I always say no. It’s for family and a few close friends only.
Last month when my DH crashed his motorcycle, my Facebook kept everyone updated without phone calls all over the country.
What do you all want to bet that this despicable poll was started by an Obamunist, possibly from the WH itself, to try to gin up a “Reichstag Fire” type of incident, enabling the Illegal Alien to establish complete totalitarian rule.
I’m sure many secretly wouldn’t mind if this ass clown were offed. But if you publicize those thoughts u b asking for trouble.
Personally I think he is the best thing in the world when it comes to firing up the conservative base.
Yo, Democrat politicians, there’s a storm coming and it going to steam roll ya.
“I’ve seen posting that said the EXACT SAME THING here on Fox comments. “
Link please. Somehow I think you are mistaken.
100% came from a lib... I gar-on-tee.
In AMerica we used to have something called free speech, I see that we have lost that right and now we will lose even more.
That wasn’t my comment, that was some goofball on the foxnews story commenting ...
Well, I’m certainly glad I missed this poll on Facebook (I think I missed it anyway).
Yes, I voted NO on that one too. I wonder if we are now “tagged” by the SS???
The trend does seem to be moving towards suppressing pure speech. It used to be that threatening speech without present means and intent to accomplish the threatened act was not considered worthy of state action. However, I have heard that this individual is the most threatened person ever to hold the office of President. Thus, maybe they have to take people seriously?
I just want to see him locked up in Leavenworth, where he belongs, since treasonous acts are no longer taken care of the way they used to be.
The very idea is insane from a conservative perspective, even considering only its seeming utilitarian aspect and neglecting morality. Look what happened when JFK was killed. LBJ passed horrendous things like the War on Poverty that JFK was unlikely to get, all due to mourning the “martyr.” Murdering BHO would guarantee an irretrievably socialist nation in a short time. All this stuff against which we fight so hard would wash over the nation with no apparent opposition.
I think there is a bit of difference between “Should he be assassinated” and “WOULD he be assassinated”.
There have also been at least seven unsuccessful attempts (Lincoln (1861), T. Roosevelt (1912) {he was not actually President at the time, but it was during a Presidential campaign), F. Roosevelt (1933), Ford (twice in 1975), and Reagan (1981)). That lowers the odds to about one in four that something will occur.
On that basis alone, I would have to describe the Presidency of the United States as a high risk job.
He is not mistaken. I have seen it plenty of times, even responded to one of them. Post was NOT removed which was surprising.
Why certainly sir! Will that be the right hand, or the forehead?
False Flag Op by Zero’s minions to boost sympathy for Zero to get his poll numbers up.
Murdering BHO would guarantee an irretrievably socialist nation in a short time. All this stuff against which we fight so hard would wash over the nation with no apparent opposition.
Thus the real physical threat to the President could well come from the Left.
Bravo!! That’s a winner!
Exactly what I thought.
Or, if is a real threat, then expect it from the 0bamacorns since they would benefit from decades of 0bama martrydom (40 years since MLK was assassinated -- and they are still using his martrydom for their own benefit).
Impeach 0bama, but for Liberty's sake don't have him die in office.
Hollywood made movies about assassinating Bush so where’s the outrage there?
Threaten to give them hot chocolate without those fabulous mini-mrshmallows?
“”We are aware of it and we will take the appropriate investigative steps,” said Darrin Blackford, a Secret Service spokesman. “We take of these things seriously.””
Start with Obama’s Cabinet. His polls are plummeting, so maybe a death threat or two, well placed, would bump his numbers.
“That lowers the odds to about one in four that something will occur”
Yeah,, but that doesn’t mean Americans can discuss it, even in general terms. people seem to think they are free to disscuss anything,, jeeeeze! Political discussion must be confined to state approved topics. That keeps us all safer, it’s for our own good./
Death of a President

And Sarah Palin
“I think ppl shoulf have to post their REAL info if they want to make comments”
wherever that came from, the person should read the federalist papers. Some guy named “Publius” wrote some great stuff!
There haven’t been a lot of visible death threats to the Bummer. In fact, even if this Facebook thingie counts, I can remember no other. I don’t think the MSM would want to confess to anyone hating him to that degree.
It’s the age of voyeurism and exhibitionism.
Yeah, I wonder how many of those kids would still be doing that if they knew perverts were drooling over it?
Just because he is a communist who is trying to destroy the country, I don’t see why anyone would hate him to that degree ;-)
lmao... wondered the same thing!!!
You put the answer first, and the question last.
Didn’t ask why, but how many are doing it because of being stupid about what could happen.
No sensible president would be that paranoid (not even Nixon) but we are not dealing with a sensible president. We are dealing with the Bummer.
