Despite a planned rally in Albany Tuesday to protest a state regulation requiring health care workers be vaccinated against influenza — both seasonal and swine flu — New York’s top public health official predicts dissenters will ultimately extinguish their anger and roll up their sleeves.

I hope the vaccines are not dangerous. This is a terrible risk for the State to take with the bodies of free people. I bet they lose a lot of health care workers just when they need them most.

Make the state sign a release form making them libel for all illnesses arising from taking the shot. If they do this the state will back off guaranteed

Love the bit at the end of the article, the assertion that there's no relationship between the two vaccines.

Well, I can think of one: that both were developed and manufactured by fallible human beings. Unless Dr. Farber's suggesting that the new vaccine was the result of divine intervention...?

The opponents also say it’s wrong that all five swine flu vaccine makers contracting with the federal government have been indemnified against lawsuits if someone gets sick or dies.

If pharma doesn't want to be held responsible, what's the chance the feds do? More so, since they are forcing it on the health care workers. This is not going to be pretty.

Darcy Wells, spokeswoman for the Public Employees Federation, which represents 9,000 health care workers statewide, including 3,000 at Stony Brook, said the union disapproves of mandatory vaccination, but is urging members to comply with the regulation.

Yes, I am not sure the State (employers) has immunity from law suits should employees be injured. The vaccine maker and the doctors and nurses who administer the vaccine have been made immune to law suits. That tells you something right there.

I heard this morning that so many people have already got the H1 immunization that they are planning to monitor them.

Sounds like they got a heck of a lot of lab rats.
