Obama Administration to Push for Tough New Economic Sanctions if Iran Doesn't Come Clean on Nuclear Plans
The Obama administration is planning to push for new sanctions against Iran, targeting its energy, financial and telecommunications sectors if it does not comply with international demands to come clean about its nuclear program, according to U.S. officials.
The officials said the U.S. would expand its own penalties against Iranian companies and press for greater international sanctions against foreign firms, largely European, that do business in the country unless Iran can prove that its nuclear activities are not aimed at developing an atomic weapon.

I wonder what happens if Iran stops pumping oil for a while?
Iran is really playing with fire here! < / sarcasm >
The White House is also going after America’s oil income.
Where and when have sanctions ever worked?
LOL what is the King Jerk going to do Sue them?? But you need a real Lawyer for that not a pretend one.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!
I’m sure Achmenjaid (sorry if mispelled) and the mullahs are just terrified!
After decades of not ‘coming clean’...Obama is ‘planning’....wow
Ahmadinijad better watch it or he is going to be sent home with a not to his mother pinned on his collar.
You know how some say that “we can’t attack Iran because if we do they will put a minefield in the Strait of Hormuz?” I’ve been thinking, and it seems like the real loser in that strategy will be Iran itself. Oil will still flow from the Middle East, albeit not as much, through pipelines, and if we really need to, we can commence a crash program to switch to natural gas.
Iran, on the other hand, is completely dependent on selling their oil. They might make the world hungry for oil by closing the Strait of Hormuz, but they’d be utterly starving themselves. Even China wouldn’t do business with them.
ok, so we sanction Iran then what:
oh yeah, the french sell them telephone equipment and the Iranians sell their oil to india and china. Ooooooooooo, those are some strict sanctions.
Let’s see...it was just a few days ago that Iran said that they would switch to selling oil for Euro’s. Sounds like all of the tough talking from Pennsylvania Avenue is working like a charm. I’m guessing that Iran isn’t going to get too flustered here.
I don’t know, maybe bammy is getting guidance from fidel?
As if china and russia are going to stop buying Iran oil.
The zero is out of his pay level.
Pardon my asking, but we were supposed to be re-imbursed for
expenses for the liberation and rebuilding of Iraq...were’nt
we??
Saltnlemons
It’s all about the OIL!!
Probably not with the same vigor that they go after taxpayers income.
Oil is fungible and therefore this won’t work. Worst case scenario for Iranians, they will sell their oil to the Russians or the Azerbaijanis. We could stop their seaborne imports, but these too would quickly be replaced by products coming in via the Caspian.
Draw a line in the sand. And then knock them back to the 9th Century if they cross it.
Soooo....sanctions on Iran, check. Iran oil exports zeroed, check. Price of oil/gas goes sky high, check. Once again, Americans are unable to afford to gas up their cars, check. Bingo! Americans coerced out of their cars. Ah...another Zero success.
Brilliantly orchestrated and carried out plan, Zero!!!
Who wants to bet that the One’s supporter Immelt of GE stays coze with the Ayatollahs?
