Interesting that some one filed a complaint, but that person isn’t identified nor their motivations. How was that person disturbed by this and know what the law was and who to call? What raised a red flag that compelled the complaintant to call the state rather than visit the neighbor to see what was going on? The law disturbs me, but this type of complaining to the state rather than working with the neighbors bugs me more.

Interesting that the state admits the law is ignorant.
None of this would have happened in a neighbor had not complained.

It would be nice to know who did complain. We could all send them a card of apreciation. Probably a noise issue.

NO they want them in an environment the gov’t can observe, such as daycare or a licensed home care provider. The reality is that Obama, as well as the democrat party, really want to have gov’t run daycare centers. Through the last 10- 12 years the gov’t has taken more and more control of the daycare centers with regulations & through the welfare system. Welfare moms who needed someone to watch their many children while they look for jobs or further their education needed free childcare. Govt’ started providing it, which opened the door for them to regulate any facilities that offered their services. Most daycare facilities willingly offered service because it was money they were guaranteed to get. Then stricter discrimination laws were put into effect making it harder for those centers to turn away children who were on welfare. The only centers at one time not effected by all of this were the church centers and home daycares that were not lisenced. So the state makes a law like the one above to ensure that they have the power to enforce the provision. Guess which providers are going to face impunitive regulations next? The churches or private religious schools that provide daycare. The gov’t agencies and the “community organizers” have been crying foul since Clinton was in office. I used to work for a childcare management agency that helped “educate” and find services for welfare moms. I saw things that made me loathe the gov’t bureacracy. For a time it got better after congress enacted the welfare reform, however they soon learned how to rework the system. Every state has some form of the above law, but I have a feeling that we will see it enforced more strictly now that Obama is in office. Just another way gov’t can intrude on the people’s personal lives.

I would like to know how she was reported in the first place.

what ever happened to “it takes a village?”....

Read the article. The money quote's at the end.

"I think it does take a village and that's the best way," said Maciaszek. This idiot has no idea how stupid she sounds.

Problem is, when these Democrats say "It takes a village," what they REALLY MEAN is, "IT TAKES A GOVERNMENT".

That's the only context in which the clueless Miz Maciaszek's comment makes any sense.

Seems like there was something on FR last week about one of the states (Illinois?) that was signing up all licensed day care providers to a union, without the knowledge or consent of the providers.

The real deal is they want all the tax money. They don’t care about the welfare of children in “unlicensed” day care. They care about the tax money they don’t get from “unlicensed” day care.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winnah!!!

Yep, and I bet the union has ties to the SEIU. Give them time and we will have mandated government daycare. They are already doing it to some degree with the new 4-K classes that are in many public schools. These are not mandatory, but guess what? Neither was kindergarten when it started back in the 60’s. Now k is a mandatory in most every state except some of the southern states.(Alabama for ex.) Soon 4-k will be mandatory to so that every child will have “equal opportunity” in education. These 4-k classes have made it very difficult for privately owned daycare centers to compete and they have suffered financially because they have lost a # of their students to the govt’ school. These classes in the schools are cheaper for the parent. So what has happened? Daycare centers have raised prices for the younger ages to make up for the loss of their 4 year olds. They had to do this everytime the dept. of human resources lowers the teacher to child ratios as well. Luckily, I was able to quit my job and stay home with my children and raise them the way I see is the best, but if the trend continues we will see gov’t mandated care. Then next will be stricter laws for those who homeschool. :/

There is no mention of money received as payment. I would think that comes under “volunteer” category. I have seen that my state has ramped up sending notices of payment and penalty where there is no legitimate reason, just to see if people will send money in.

Wow. Same here. We got one. My husband is an accountant, so he just threw it away. (He keeps our financilal paperwork).
He wondered how much money the state was making off this scam. A lot of people would actually believe they owe - and pay - again.
