Are the Tea Parties about to be co-opted?
09/30/2009 | taildragger

Posted on 09/30/2009 4:44:44 PM PDT by taildragger

I was listening to Hugh Hewitt tonight. He had on a group "Contract From America". The folks from the organization mentioned a split with a gent named Williams and what made my hair stand on end was their desire to make the movement "mainstream". I thought those of us with a Tea Party mentality are the mainstream of American Life, as we define it. My gut feel and I hope I am wrong, I smell a RINO cabal. Tell me I a wrong......

You can’t split something you didn’t build. Nor, as the media is finding out, you can’t destroy something you didn’t make.

The people American know what to do, we don’t need a leader. Follow the wisdom of the crowd. Deny false so-called leaders.

Only if the people allow it.

If a Rino hosts one, then the people should host a much larger competing tea party fairly close, and see to it that the size and content of both is well documented with internet video.

My gut feel and I hope I am wrong, I smell a RINO cabal.

The RINOs will do it again. The RNC and NRSC (and other Republican Party organs) think all of us conservatarians are stupid.

The view that we have to vote for them because we "have nowhere else to go" still reigns supreme.

Too bad (for them) that they are wrong.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

That sounds almost Biblical. I like that.

My gut feel is right. I sense they want to take the lead, what if this smells of Romney behind the scenes. Yuk.

The GOP hierarchy would no doubt love to run things. All we can do is be alert and speak out against any hijack attempts.

The GOP hierarchy has had it's chance, all they've done is mess things up. It's time for them to do things our way now!

At our local tea party I took the opportunity to make sure our local GOP chairman knew how I felt. I told him that I wasn’t happy with the way the national party threw my conservative congressman overboard and trying to push a moderate will guarantee a second term for the marxist congressman we got.

Sounds like a cry of a RINO, seeing that Ron Paul wants to audit the Fed and stop the bailouts, just as the 9/12 DC marchers wanted.

They cannot be co-opted, because there is NO REAL SUPPORT for them...this is what Hussein and the RINOs do not understand. No one formed the Tea Party movement singlehandedly....we are patriots and constitutionalists who rally at the same time in defense of liberty.

We have something Hussein and his cultists will never have: genuine passion and love of freedom.

I think maybe Williams has been interviewed one too many times as the “head honcho,” for the Tea Parties and tried to bring ALL the Grassroots under his own umbrella.

I have actually wondered about this myself.

I didn’t hear the show- so can’t comment on the feeling you got from listening- however- here’s what I read at the website- and to my mind- it rings clear, true and worthwhile investigating.

Contract From America Preamble

We, the citizens of the United States of America, in order to protect our country from those who seek power and authoritarian control under the false guise of compassion and altruism, call upon our elected representatives to sign this Contract and by doing so commit to upholding the principles herein:

Individual Liberty

Our moral, political, and economic liberties are inherent, not gifts from the government. It is essential to the practice of these liberties that we be free from restriction over our peaceful political expression and free from excessive control over our economic choices.

Limited Government

The purpose of our government is to protect our liberties by administering justice and ensuring our safety from threats arising inside or outside our country’s sovereign borders. When our government ventures beyond these functions and attempts to increase its power over the marketplace and the economic decisions of individuals, our liberties are diminished and the probability of corruption, internal strife, economic depression, and poverty increases.

Economic Freedom

The most powerful, proven instrument of material and social progress is the free market. The market economy, driven by the accumulated expressions of individual economic choices, is the only economic system that preserves and enhances individual liberty. Any other economic system, regardless of its intended pragmatic benefits, undermines our fundamental rights as free people.

We need to SHOW the GOP hierarchy whatfor. Sarah Palin’s book hasn’t even been released yet and it’s,.... well here:

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/09/30/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5354122.shtml

Sarah Palin’s forthcoming memoir, “Going Rogue,” has reached the top spot on the Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com sales rankings – more than a month and a half before it will hit bookshelves on November 17th.
****************************************************

This is a message to the poodles in power all unto itself. Get with Sarah or get OUT of our way!

She must have been listening to one of his “Abolish the Fed” speeches. I’m sure many people can’t sleep at night thinking about the Fed! What a stupid platform when we are witnessing a half-century long effort to spread Marxism in America coming to fruition.

To: taildragger; All

As Glenn Beck correctly points out, the GOP better not be salivating at the prospect of gaining power by DEFAULT because of the nation's current discontent with the Democrats in power.

Keeping the pendulum swinging Right-Left-Right-Left gets us nowhere as a nation. The GOP better NOT be thinking they will become the automatic beneficiaries of this movement just because they are NOT Democrats — America does not trust you either, Republican Party (IMO, the RINOs)!

It can be said that the Republican National Committee is almost as COMPLICIT as the Democratic National Committee for getting this country where we are financially, morally and spiritually.

A third party is NOT the answerthe answer is for the American people to speak louder than the special interest minorities that have hijacked the political process of ALL parties.

If you’re a Democrat, Republican, Independent or something elsesupport the candidates that vote for smaller government and less taxing/spending. Do NOT vote for the person who favors sending more BIG money to Washington DC ... attracting CORRUPTION like a moth to flame.

I think Paul gets way too much grief around here for his anti-war stance. There's such a thing as agreeing to disagree, and Paul has never been against self-defense. But he has very narrow definitions for it, that don't include a lot of current or past military actions.

Nevertheless, you won't find a more staunch constitutional conservative on domestic issues. Concerning finance and spending issues he's tireless, and he barks against any violation of rights that comes up. In fact, constitutionality is his trademark argument. So basically, he's a libertarian conservative with a lot of great points, and the tinfoil calls are inappropriate. It's just too bad the positive aspects of his positions aren't acknowledged and discussed as much as his negatives.

Only once or even twice? You must be young. I feel like Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football.

See my "Term Limits" piece in my sig for my new strategy. I've told the RNC, the RSCC and the RCCC to go pound sand. I will support individual candidates, especially in my district and state. But even my mostly conservative Congress Critter will be facing a challenger in the primary. I won’t settle for the argument that there isn’t one other person in this district who could do better.

For now, I'll be at a meeting with my current Congress Critter later this month. I've sent a couple of ideas to her local office. She's supposed to be actually taking questions at the meeting, we'll see. But she needs to listen to the people in her district. She represents us. We didn't elect her to be a "leader." We elected her to be a "Representative." Not enough of the Congress Critters of either party understand that.

And you REALLY think marxism can succeed without a Fed or its equivalent to loot the American People? ASIDE from the fact that Dr. Paul is perhaps the single most consistent person in the District of Criminals in his belief in and adherence to the Constitution (I think Michelle Bachmann is next, with Clarence Thomas rounding out the top three), debunked LIES to the contrary not withstanding, his drive to first audit, then abolish the Fed will deal a near fatal wound to the nanny/marxist uber-state through denial of our money, its lifeblood. Yet YOU have a problem with this?????

I agree the Fed should be abolished but the whole concept is too complex for the vast majority of the public who have demonstrated they are ignorant politically (particularly the female segmant). Paul needs an elevator message for the short attention span of people who are not in his choir.
