Dow Jones Biggest Loss in 3 months (-207); NASD down 3%

Posted on 10/01/2009 1:08:46 PM PDT by montag813

A retail downgrade by Saks and larger than anticipated jobless filings, coupled perhaps with nervousness over Friday's jobs report (8:30am) led the market to a broad decline, which accelerated into fresh lows in the last hour.

Wait until whatever health care bill passes. If you think the NYSE is recovering, you’ll (arguers for a recovery) be surprised. Personally, I would have anything in the market. The juggled balls will have to come down sometime.

That's no worse than the previous president's opinion and that of a lot of FReepers, who used to say the stock market was totally unnecessary during W's first term.

No, we actually sold a good portion and used it to pay off our mortgage.

We should have paid the mortgage when we got the money lump sum several years ago, but everyone advised that we invest it. We made nearly all our losses back, so we pulled the trigger.

Agree..I might add it was the best thing we financially have ever done. No debt is a great way to go. Took giving up many things along the way. Learning frugal and thrifty ways to do life that will last ours and our children’s lifetime.

Soli Deo Gloria!
