Charlie Sheen, Mariska Hargitay Among TV's Highest Paid Stars
Wed Sep 30
Charlie Sheen is at the top of the scripted TV heap, according to TV Guide.
The mag reported that the "Two and a Half Men" star takes home $875,000 an episode for his role as Charlie Harper on the CBS sitcom.
Last year, "Sopranos" star James Gandolfini led the pack with a whopping $1 million an episode for the final season of the HBO mob drama.
Among the rest of TV's highest paid men in 2009 are "24" star Keifer Sutherland ($550,000 an episode), "House" doctor Hugh Laurie ($400,000) and Christopher Meloni of "Law & Order: SVU" ($400,000).
Lower down on the list were such stars as "30 Rock's" Alec Baldwin ($300,000), "Grey's Anatomy's" McDreamy, Patrick Dempsey ($250,000) and "Mad Men" main man Jon Hamm, who earns $75,000 per episode -
just above "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford ($50,000). On the ladies' side, Christopher Meloni's "Law & Order: SVU" counterpart brings home top dollar - along with a quartet of successful "Housewives."
Mariska Hargitay earns $400,000 an episode for her role as Detective Olivia Benson on NBC's "SVU," tying her with four "Desperate Housewives" stars - Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Marica Cross and Felicity Huffman.
TV's other highest-paid women include "30 Rock" creator Tina Fey ($300,000) and "The Closer's" Kyra Sedgwick ($275,000). However, actors aren't the only ones in TV land with serious paychecks.
Among the stars of late night, CBS' David Letterman earns $32 million a year, outdistancing the salary of any actor - and also his NBC competitors, Jay Leno ($30 million) and Conan O'Brien ($14 million). And a number of newscasters are also top earners, led by Katie Couric at $15 million a year and Matt Lauer at $13 million.

Big bucks. IIRC, Kelsey Grammer was making $1.4-$1.6 million per episode of Fraiser.
Really, who are these imbeciles (apparently many) who still continue to fill their minds with this sordid mush?
I don’t watch any of the shows mentioned at all. Give the big bucks to Adam Baldwin (Chuck) and Nathan Fillion (Castle) for being awesome. Oh, and I think Sinise is on one of the CSIs. Pay the man.
“Charlie, it’s Emilio on the phone. What should I tell him?”
“Tell him Bush brought down the towers!”
Two coats of wax, vacuum the trunk and make sure to clean out the ashtrays.
What a total waste of cash.
They get paid millions to play pretend. How quaint.
Though Sheen tries to stay away from arriving at any conclusions at to who he thinks might have been behind the attacks which is refreshing considering how so many others questioners have jumped to conclusions.
And then there’s that. Can I assume that now I know what $875,000 worth of cocaine a week does to the human brain?
LA hookers are now flush with cash - I guess you could call it the (involuntary) drip down economy
Brutal. But nobody needs to tell him to check the ashtrays, that’s the best part of the job.
“Mad Men” main man Jon Hamm, who earns $75,000 per episode....
been watching that on DVD
She is the late Jayne Mansfield’s daughter....(for the old timers)
Somebody call the compensation czar.
That's right, both she and her brothers were in the car crash that killed their mother.
I know who Charlie Sheen is, he's Emilio Estevez's brother or cousin or something like that, the sad sack who hires high priced hookers. I think the last thing I saw with him in it was "Young Guns." No clue he was still working.
Mariska Hargitay? Never heard of her. Is she hot?
Equal pay for equal work
MMMM, MMMM, MMMM
She’s just as beautiful as her parents isn’t she?
Who would have thought a tart like her mom and a weightlifter lughead would have produced such a good actress.
Oh yeah, not to mention she’s not in a mental institution for watching part of her mom’s head get lopped off. Sheesh, that would have damaged me for life!
And that's not counting the..uh..fringe benefits.
I think Kyra Sedgewick (The Closer) is one of the best actresses on the tube.
98% of TV is nothing but crap
Wow- hot for sure!
