Write CBS - Demand the Resignation of David Letterman

Posted on 10/02/2009 7:51:40 AM PDT by tonyome

Contact CBS at the following link and demand the resignation of David Letterman:

http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/show_info/contact_us.php

I'd like to know how many of these sex partners of his were forced or coerced into it. This scandal is going to blow wide open and the more CBS tries to cover it up the worse it is going to get. Can anyone say Dan Rather II?

I'm thrilled to see karma coming back to bite the deviant after his pontifications about Sanford. But the funniest part is the laughter I hear coming all the way from Wasilla. Lol.

David Letterman does not work for CBS. David Letterman (for reasons just like this) works for Worldwide Pants Corp and is contracted to sell their show to CBS.

Do some research before calling for resignations and for that matter, why do you care?

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around all this indignation and fury over David Letterman sleeping with his assistant.

More likely is that these were willing bimbo gold diggers hoping to latch on to Letterman’s fortune. He was single until just recently.

I doubt Letterman would care if he got canned. If all his “employee encounters” sued him, he might care. But I’m sure they have ALL signed legally binding “no snitch” agreements.

Letterman is a perverted schmuck who needs to be pulled off the airwaves ASAP.

He admitted to having sex with his staff while married to another woman, and all of this after making sexual jokes about Sarah Palin's daughters on national television.

GET LETTERMAN THE PERVERT OFF TV!

Actually, it involved more than 1 person (many) and it's called sexual harrasment dude. And when somebody opens his mouth and mocks others for thier mistakes there is often payback, it's news.

Well what boggles my mind is that if I’m stating that it’s none of our business, and that it is irrelevant if he slept with 2000 people, that means that I LIKE what he does or did.

I don’t think he was upstanding guy BEFORE this and I certainly don’t think any better of him now. But I’m trying to understand how Freepers thinks who a celebrity sleeps with is somehow infringing on them. Why?

People want to act like they are all upset for the ‘victims’, but who says there are ‘victims’? The only specific one we know of STILL WORKS FOR HIM. No staffer has come out and said “David Letterman violated me and abused his authority as my employer” or anything remotely like that. He was blackmailed by an ex-boyfriend of someone he slept with BEFORE HE WAS MARRIED.

“More likely is that these were willing bimbo gold diggers hoping to latch on to Letterman’s fortune. He was single until just recently.”

Any time a boss is having sex with his staff it is an extremely tenuous situation and calls into question the “will I get fired if I ignore or rebuff his sexual advances???” angle etc etc....

David Letterman is a slime.

No offense but this sounds awful fascist. Switch the names around and bad deeds and you would be screaming fascism. Lets see...

"Limbaugh admitted to doing painkillers! He jokes about drug abuse! He needs pulled off the airwaves ASAP! GET RUSH THE DRUGGIE OFF TV!"

It's a dangerous precedent. Letterman is slime, let him fall on his own sword as his advertising dollars whither away.

What I can't understand is people who think "feigned moral indignity over some guy sleeping with someone who has no consequence in their lives is beyond ridiculous" and yet they read, and even post to, threads about just that.

"...I’m still trying to wrap my mind around all this indignation and fury over David Letterman sleeping with his assistant..."

1. It was assistants not assistant.

2. It's still sexual harassment when a person in a position of authority (explicit or implicit) has an inappropriate relationships with subordinates (again, explicit or implicit employees). He has admitted they were "employees of this show", on screen. Remember Slick Willie? Despite the lamentations of the lefties, it really wasn't the sex. In addition to his perjury, it was the inappropriate implicit coercion/undue influence of that behavior in the workplace that was (and remains) the salient issue. If any CEO or military officer did the same they'd be out on their ear (except, apparently the CEO of Worldwide Pants Corp). Many actually were, for far less.

3. Just because he works for his own LLC, under contrat w/CBS doesn't shield him (nor CBS) from liability/accountability. It actually makes it easier for CBS to send him down the road. Unless he has an "I get to screw all of cute little CBS employees I want to" clause in his contract (Hey who knows? Maybe he does. It is TV after all), they can just sever the contract with him as a subcontractor, rather than fire him as an employee. CBS is probably also vicariously liable if they knew about his protracted pattern of this behavior and didn't even try to stop him before it hit the front page.

He can make all of the jokes about it that he wants to, but he probably won't laugh his way out of this one. He's vile old lecher.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around...

That's because your mind is, apparently, mired in the 1960's. A boss who dorks his employees isn't considered sporty anymore.

Multiple sexual overtures to subordinates is prima facie evidence of harrassment. If any of Mr. Letterman's prey are employees and, with actual knowledge of his behavior, CBS does nothing about it, they're on the hook for a behemoth civil rights judgment.

Mr. Letterman’s employees are not employees of CBS, therefore no liability is passed on to them.
