McCain Recruiting Pragmatists, Moderates to Remake GOP [Manchurian McCain has been activated]
Politico / Politics Daily ^ | 2009-10-02

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is taking the opposite route of most defeated presidential candidates: rather than quickly bow out of national politics, McCain is working to become a transformative force in the Republican Party, Politico reported Friday. Concerned about the GOP's direction, McCain has been recruiting and raising money for candidates who share his pragmatic center-right style.

McCain has been a particularly generous advisor to Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), who he encouraged to run for Senate and threw a $500,000 fundraiser to support.

Dear John,

You lost because you're a spineless moderate. Without Gov. Palin, your defeat would have rivaled Mondale's and McGovern's.

Please shut up and go away.

Thank you.

I think this is great.

Lets have a bunch of McCain clones against a bunch of conservatives in GOP primary races for 2010.

Kind of makes you wonder if McCain might have voted for Obama. As long as the Republicans try to be middle-of-the-road, the Dems will have a much better chance of winning.

Anyone who thinks they can honestly restore Conservatism to the OP wing of the socialist Republicrat party with McAmnesty trying to reshape it needs to stop drinking the Kool Aid.

If Steele allows this to continue, it’s time to bolt from the GOP as they head right off the cliff

Not one more penny to anyone who does not acknowledge Sarah Palin as the leader of the Republican Party!

Maybe Palin shouldn’t have accepted the VP spot. Then we really would have seen what a lousy GOP he is and maybe he would have actually gotten the hint.

McCain can do what he wants with the Gross Old Party. As soon as Sarah founds the Conservative Party it will be a ghost anyway, the Dems can take the RINOs. Good Riddance!

"I think he's endorsed people with center-right politics because he has an understanding that the party is in trouble with certain demographics and wants to have a tone that would allow us to grow," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, McCain's closest friend and Senate ally.

What's this *certain demographics* thing? This stinks of the old *certain people* slam. And a "tone" that would allow the GOP to grow? This coming from people who demonstrate they are completely TONE DEAF to a true winning strategy, ideology??

Good luck with that, Graham.
