All kidding aside, this will be a major disaster. Once a female is found to be pregnant she must be rotated off the ship. We just had an instance of med-evacing a sailor off an at sea sub, the sub must surface and the person must be taken out on a gurney.
Lets say the woman gets pregnant and she doesn't want to go ashore because she won't be showing till after the deployment... Want to bet they'll be huge lawsuits should the baby be born with birth defects. It's not only radiation you are dealing with on a sub, it's lead from the batteries, potential elevated CO2 levels, possible hull breaches (USS Thresher) ...and this is during peacetime.
This is a terrible idea so leave it to "The One's" administration to come up with this.

The problem with an all female crew, just about anywhere in the military, is one of strength. It’s a nasty subject that the politically correct love to pretend doesn’t exist but women are generally not as strong as men because they are not as big as men, carry around more body fat as a proportion of their weight, and don’t have as much natural testosterone. That creates problems because working with big heavy machinery and doing things like damage control favor the strong.
To: pabianice
Is this how you raise your periscope, sir?
My, is that torpedo armed?

Couldnt they just have a few all female subs? Oh, never mind....Recall that women in close quarters have their menstrual cycles sync up. Then imagine a crew of women "at that time of the month" with nukes...

Hopefully, they’ll keep track of menstral cycles. Picture life on a sub where twenty percent of the crew has PMS at the same time. We’d have to lock up the ‘launch’ button.

Shower time for Machinist Mate Bridget will be very popular.
The shower in a sub is tiny so you have to strip in the corridor and then get in the shower. When you're done you reverse the process.

From the article:
"Having commanded a mixed gender surface combatant, I am very comfortable addressing integrating women into the submarine force," said Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead in a statement to Military.com. "I am familiar with the issues as well as the value of diverse crews."
The unfortunately named Adm. Roughhead let slip the PC "tell"......the value of diverse crews.
WTF? I would hope the military valued ability over diversity.
Hey Adm when did you notice that you stopped being an officer and started being a full time politician?
