Brazil (Rio) Unemplymnt Down(8%), Economy Growing (US 3 Decade Worst in Unemployment, nears 10%)
Yahoo Finance ^

SAO PAULO (AP) -- Brazil says unemployment has decreased for the third month in a row, showing that Latin America's biggest economy is recovering from the global crisis.

The government's statistics agency says the jobless rate decreased to 8.1 percent in June from 8.8 percent in the previous month, the third consecutive reduction since it reached 9 percent in March. There was no change compared to June last year.

The economy has been rebounding in part because of tax breaks in the automobile, construction and home appliance sectors, increased government spending and easier access to credit for small businesses.

Commenting on the world economic crisis, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Thursday in an interview with Radio Globo that "in our opinion, the worst is over."

"The Brazilian economy has grown, people are consuming and sales are up," Silva said. "All the signs indicate that Brazil is going through an extraordinary phase ... and that starting in 2010 we will resume normal growth."

The economy has been rebounding in part because of tax breaks...

Not according to Obama/Reid/Pelosi...

Thanks

The media is spinning Rio and Olympics on the worst day of unemployment news in the last 3 decades.

Rio, on the other hand, gained jobs, their economy grew at 1.2% and they’ve turned the corner.

How?

Tax Cuts.

Brazil has lower unemployment than the USA?!? Send the illegal Brazilians in America home.

I was listening to an investment guru video last night. He said the countries to invest in are BRICAC or something because they are self reliant for natural resources.

Brazil
Russia
India
China
Australia
Canada

We have the resources by the fed govt has them all locked up on fed land. Thank Al Gore and the environmentalists owned by the Saudis.

Lower taxes, AND Brazil taps their own natural resources. We, on the other hand, in the name of being environmental and progressive, do not.

Don’t be fooled by the Olympic “Rio” spin on the day of US worst unemployment news in 3 decades.

Nearly 10% unemployment.

We LOST over a QUARTER MILLION jobs last month.

Actual title: Brazil's unemployment down for 3rd straight month

It manages somehow not to spell "unemployment" incorrectly, as does your title.

Brazil (Rio) Unemplymnt Down(8%)

You may want to look into this whole "copy and paste" thing.

It allows you to grab stuff without re-typing it with mistakes.

All the cool kids are doing it these days.

Unemployment in the States will go beyond 10%. Count on it, especially if they raise taxes on people and business.

I left out vowels on purpose to condense. There are so many characters you can have in an FR title line.

It’s an old trick learned in military. People recognize words without certain vowels.

Keep forgetting that some folks don’t remember their military days.

Nope. As you can see from the poster comments section (normally post #1) there are a number of articles being posted. The convention I’ve learned over the years here on FR on such a thread is truncating and condensing.

Which I did.

All that aside, what are your thoughts on the good UE news in Brazil versus the awful UE news (9.8%) in the US?

What do you think of Rio Olympics diverting attention from the worst unemplymt news in nearly 3 decades?

Between their ability to find new energy resources and their ability to produce alcohol economically, they will soon be energy independent from OPEC.

Keep an eye on Brazil.

And I do not think they terrorize businesspeople. After a brief spell with Communism and millions dead the Chinese have in essence learned not to hate people who make money and succeed. Third World countries very quickly learn the value of hard work and I am sure they are already forming a business plan to host the Olympics and make a fortune out of it.

When you add the 571,000 who gave up searching for jobs it’s closer to 800,000.

Funny how when a Republican is in the White House unemployment RISES unless at least 400,000 jobs are created. When a Democrat is in the White House, unemployment FALLS unless at least 400,000 jobs are lost. Total hogwash.

You don’t have to.

They’ve been leaving on their own for exactly this reason, and I know what I’m talking about, as I have close connections with the Brazilian communities here in the States.

Even communist/marxist countries have learned how communism/marxism/socialism fails economically. So what do they do? They adopt the free-market, captialistic principles that once made America great. Now, they are still totalitarian regimes. But, because their economies are healthy, they have less threat of revolt and overthrow from their serfs.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Obammie the Commie is busy installing the old failed SOVIET economic policies of the last 80 years.

I think Lula is mis-labelled as a commie. He does fight for the rights of the downtrodden, but that’s ‘cause land reform was needed, quite unlike here in the US. Is he a card carrying commie? IMHO, I think not.
