The Obama administration has advised Congress to cut off pensions for 26 elderly members of the World War II-era Alaska Territorial Guard who served the nation without pay during the Japanese attack.
According to McClatchy Newspapers, the administration sent a "strongly worded" message to Congress concerning its priorities for a military spending bill, and the service members didn't make the cut.

Things like $ 2 million for the new road to the Clinton presidential library, millions to promote the Second City for the Olympics, private jets for Nancy Pelosi. Why on earth would we spend money on veterans who actually served this country when we have priorities such as these that can he paid for, not bu us, but by the crushing debt placed on our grandchildren?

If these guys were 20 in WW II, then they are 85 today and have a life expectancy of 5 more years. 26 men x $25,000 / year x 5 years ~ $3 million (and I'm probably WAY on the high side on the pension amount). That's less than a spit in the ocean for the US budget.
For crying out loud, Obama spent more than that gallivanting off to Copenhagen with the First Hag this week and has NOTHING to show for it. At least this $3 million is an honorable payment to patriots who deserve it.

Arrogance, hubris, declaring his shame for America in every corner of the globe, and flushing our honored heritage down the toilet seems to fit the pattern.
In the near future, I expect Obama to ax most or all military pensions. Once the cost of health care becomes apparent (hint: there will be no savings, only more red ink), Vets will be the first ones thrown under the bus. The political calculus will be that there are too few Vets to raise a fuss and we love this country too much to protest violently. Plus, vets are the “past”; illegals, however, are the “future”. Look for this to happen right after the 2012 election.
The side trip to Copenhagen and the buzzing of NYC in AF1 could have paid for this.

This is one of the reason I believe Palin resigned. She could see that they were not only going to destroy her but her state would suffer also. Unfortunately I think they will continue to pick on Alaska knowing that she is very fond of her state.

Alaska was suffering directly from the frivolous ethics complaint abuses against Sarah Palin — Alaska had to pay for the time and legal effort that was put into answering them in court. Secondary effects like this weren’t even on the map.
