A former "Late Show" intern came forward Saturday to say she is one of David Letterman's former flings.

"I was madly in love with him at the time," Holly Hester told TMZ.com. "I would have married him. He was hilarious."

The NYU alum said the relationship started when Letterman asked her on a date to the movies.

A year-long, secret romance ensued, she said, until the funnyman called it off.

Letterman, 62, admitted on air Thursday night that he had affairs with female staffers, but did not name them.

He made the confession while revealing that a CBS News producers had tried to extort $2 million from him, threatening to reveal the sex secrets.

Take our PollLetterman's future

Do you think David Letterman should resign after admitting he had affairs with staffers?

No - elected officials have done worse and kept their jobs.
Yes - it sets a terrible example for others in postions of power and influence.
Not sure.

Just punching his card.

Letterman must have plans to get into politics.

Interesting how all the players in the story are from CBS. CBS must be a cess-pool of back-stabbing, sex, and political gamesmanship. These perverted elites at CBS would do well in any Roman Emporer’s court.

The intern later replied that he had suffered from “smallcox”.

Badda-bing.

Hey, he’s a lib. We KNOW he don’t got no b*lls.

Well, Letterman isn’t the host of holy hour, so I don’t know if this is going to hurt him or not, but as to him quitting, it sure would be nice, but I don’t see him doing it on his own.

Don’t know enough yet. But if this was a matter of dating and relationships, where no coercion, favors, or deception was involved, then no I don’t think he should be fired. If weven one woman comes forward and says there was coercion or threats to keep silent, then yes, fire him and castrate him with a dull spoon. But so far, two wanted to marry him, one did. This one said they dated for a year...Hardly sounds like Letterman was just trying to add notches to his headboard...

I am not saying his behavior was laudable, but then I’ve heard nothing to suggest these weren’t relationships between consenting adults, before Letterman got married.

Letterman used his position as boss to have affairs. They do not seem to be abusive affairs. I think they need to leave him alone. The question is , did he have them after he was married?

Then thats between him and his wife.

If he were in elective office, he would have to go, as someone who does not meet the necessary public trust.

He is an entertainer. He will be at CBS as long as his ratings stay up and he has advertizers.

He may have violated CBS corporate policy.

And he may have some problems with sexual harassment liability, but so far no one has complained.

I do not respect his life style.

While I agree with your sentiment (I don’t think he should fired unless someone says he used this against them), neither of the two married him.

These floozies got in the sack and did the humpty dumpty with the slimy old fart because they thought doing so would further their careers. Letterman is just plain ugly. He has the cash to attract women, not the looks.

I agree. They were consenting relationships between adults.

There isn’t much of a story here other than a low life blackmailer and a lefty who makes fun of others while indulging in his own pursuits.

I don't think so. Letterbastard thinks he can slander and mock the private lives of other people, but his rotten "family" life is sacrosanct. My @$*.

I don't see the problem. If I'd been a honcho at CBS and not married, I'd poked every good looking honey that’d have me. The sex wasn't forced upon the women.. Letterman is a sleezeball but the last I saw, sleezeball is not a punishable offense.

He is the chairman/owner of Worldwide Pants. I guess maybe he couldn’t be fired, but he could probably resign and appoint someone to take his place. I’m not sure if there is a board of directors or how much power they might have since it’s not a public company.

These affairs are not illegal. These are two consecting adults. It’s pretty common to date and/or marry people you work with. Sexual harrassment is a whole different issue.

Nasty. His wife is nothing to look at but he is no Prince Charming for sure.

Why can people judge her on her looks when he is such an ugly f$^k?

This is what turns me off on FR. Men are kings, no matter how butt ugly but it is okay when the other half is less than pleasant to look at.

I would wash my bathroom floor with Letterman. No matter how much he is worth, no way would I want to wake up to his ugly face in the morning.

Nice photo of Stephanie Birkett there( Letterman paid her law school tuition).

This is Holly Hester:

Holly Hester:Holly Hester was a former intern for David Letterman in the early 1990s. Hester said she was considered a highly ranked staffer for David Letterman back then.

Hester was studying at NYU when she worked as an intern for Letterman. Hester was excited as it was her first TV job.

It all started when Letterman called her up for a movie date. Letterman dated her secretly for about one year. Hester fell in love with him. One of the reasons was his sense of humor. Hester called Letterman “hilarious”.

After one year, he told Hester he wanted to split because of their age gap.

David Letterman and his representatives have not given their response to Holly Hester’s story.
