Obama was told a trip to Olympics meeting may clinch Chicago win
LA Times ^

Reporting from Washington - In the run-up to the Olympics vote, the White House was getting a clear message from the architects of Chicago's bid: Balloting would be tight, and a personal visit to Copenhagen from President Obama just might lock in a victory.

Leaders of the Windy City's campaign to secure the 2016 Games had done some nose-counting and were convinced the International Olympic Committee might well anoint Chicago as host, according to White House officials interviewed Saturday.

"The intelligence that we had from the U.S. Olympic Committee and Chicago bid team was that it was very close and therefore well worth our efforts," said Valerie Jarrett, a senior White House advisor. "The message was that . . . a personal appeal from the president would make a huge difference."

Chicago Sun-Times Sept 23:
Quote
WASHINGTON — White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, overseeing the Obama administration’s drive to land the 2016 Olympic Games, met Tuesday with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in New York, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned. Jarrett’s huddle with Blair comes as international lobbying intensifies in advance of the Oct. 2 vote in Copenhagen and Chicago organizers are working on their home stretch strategy.

So Valerie should be the one who gets the blame??

The Chairman of the IOC said 94 votes were cast in the first round and Chicago received “..the least number of votes”. Anyone know how few votes they got?

I can't wait to see who Obama throws under the bus for this cluster flub. My money is on Daley or one of his other Chicago friends.

Intelligence? So that is what the Obama administration has the CIA doing these days, spying on the International Olympic Committee. Forget about al Qaeda and the Taliban and Iran's nuclear program. So how did the Obama administration get this intelligence? Taping telephones of committee members? Hacking into their email accounts? Bugging their bedrooms?

Jarrett flew back home with Obama on Air Force One. She said he was unfazed by the loss.

"We have plenty on our plate to do," she said.

dfwgator ~ Yeah, those same anti-American sentiments that allowed Chicago to even make the final four cities, WHILE Bush was still in office.

Bush got Chicago to the Final Four,
Obama got Chicago kicked out the door...

This is quite a statement. “Intelligence” ... code word for the Daley Machine??? Was 0bama setup to be the fall guy?

This only goes to illustrate how 0bama is TOTALLY void of Good Judgment (which he gloriously patted himself on the back for having every day of that fraudulent campaign) AND is totally manipulated by that cabal of sycophants that he surrounds himself with.

Good lord, that crew actually told him he was close to winning and they finish L.A.S.T.!!!!

Can you imagine how this mental weakling could also be manipulated on things Like the War on Terror and Forgiven Policy?

When you think about the STUPID policies he’s endorsed it really begins to round out a bigger picture doesn’t it?

Daley will be mayor, officiating at the opening of the One Term Bozo’s library in Chicago, in a few years.

Intelligence?

She makes it seem like they were getting info from a foreign service on the eve of a foreign invasion or something.

This Jarrett bird is the same one who said Zero was going to "rule".

She's one of the closest people to Zero and one of the top people heading our country at the moment. She's got to go.

a personal appeal from the president would make a huge difference

I wonder how many other Heads of State were there lobbying for their home town.

This just doesn’t seem like a proper use of the prestige of the office of the President of the United States to me and I would gather from the results of the vote that the members of the Olympic Committee didn’t either.
