Post Cushions Olympian Obamas
American Spectator ^ | October 3, 2009 | Quin Hillyer

When Hell freezes over five times in succession and rhinoceri write sonnets on Pluto, the Washington Post's Robin Givhan will stop writing love letters to Michelle Obama. Here the Obamas broke precedent and put the prestige of the presidency on the line, as well as ignoring much more pressing problems at home, all for a spectacularly unsuccessful and remarkably narcissistic effort to secure the Olympics for the Chicago Way, and all Givhan can do is gush about how wonderfully Michelle Obama had performed anyway. Givhan wrote that the First Lady "was her team's most valuable player." And, quoting others, ""She was truly elegant, articulate and persuasive." Givhan again: "In the end, the failed bid notwithstanding, not even the leader of the free world managed to outshine the first lady. Officials who met with her were impressed, particularly with her ability to quickly shift gears as she chatted with everyone from up-and-coming athletes to heads of state."And: "The first lady could just as easily have received a gold star."

If she was so persuasive then why did she fail in getting the games to Chicago? Funny how liberals never judge people by what they do or do not do.

This is solipsism at its greatest heights, or rather depths. The message wasn't about why Chicago itself is worthy and competent to hold the games, but about why the reflected glory of the Obama's should give an added glow to Chicago. Call it the penumbral theory of Olympic pitches.
This is a short piece but it is a real gem. I wish it could be read by every American. Unfortunately, the Left Lock on Media will prevent that.

Olympics for Chicago 2016 - The Cost to the People of the United States:

A - The First Lady:

1. Unhidden cost of her US aircraft to and from Copenhagen?

2. Cost and detailed list of accompanying staff currently on the US payroll?

3. Cost of accompanying staffs' accommodations, food, refreshments, local travel (taxi), Official Transportation, etc. for First Lady's party?

4. Any additional aircraft for First Lady's party, for folks like family, press, dog, Secret Service?

5. Amount Opra is reimbursing the USA for her envolvement and that of her staff for #1 - #4, above?

6. Amount the Chicago Olympic Committee is reimbursing the USA for the First Lady's envolvement and that of her staff for #1 - #4, above?

B - POTUS

1. True and total unhidden cost of Air Force One for the trip to and from Copenhagen?

2. Cost and detailed list of accompanying staff currently on the US payroll?

3. Cost of accompanying staffs' accommodations, food, refreshments, local travel (taxi), Official Transportation, etc. for the POTUS's party?

4. Any additional aircraft for POTUS's party, for folks like family, press, dog, Secret Service?

5. Cost US picking for accompanying Press Corps, including travel, accomodations, food, refreshments, etc.?

6. Cost of flying the POTUS "big black car" and the accompanying Secret Service vehicles, drivers, fuel, staff accomodations, food and refreshments?

7. Amount the Chicago Olympic Committee is reimbursing the USA for the POUS's envolvement and that of his staff for #1 - #6, above?

C - Total net expense for "A" & "B" to the USA Tax Payers?

All I ask for a a true and honest (if that is not redundant!) of this "excercise" to the American Public. I'd be interested to also know who has personal vested interests in the possible favorable outcome for this adventure, specifically relating to the possible sale of real estate and other servicees should the Chicago Olympic Committee - 2016 be successful.

That's all I ask. Starting to think of the length of time a snow flake or many snow flakes can survive in Hell while I await the answer to the forgoing questions.

When will someone in the "main stream" news business address any of these questions and share the results with us.

This is probably the most worthwhile trip the Obamas have taken on our dime, one from which we would hve received our money’s worth at twice the price. After all, what else would have so effectively exposed their total arrogance and incompetence and the absolute sycophancy of the GCM?

This is more racism (in this case, adoration of one's race) by Givhan...not too unlike what was seen in Germany in the 1930's.

Just as Obama's narcissism has grown out of the fertile soil of his insecure childhood and low self-esteem, this adoration of one's race also stems from a prior lack of confidence and self-loathing.

However, despite it roots in the humble beginnings of childhood insecurity, it is still dangerous and can morph into the uglier forms of plain old racism (or, in Obama's case, an arrogance bordering on self-deification).

Givhan's piece is everything it was cracked down to be. It was fulsome almost to the extent that it could have been printed verbatim on a parody site and nobody would have been the wiser.

This article is sad; it’s like watching the Chicago media cover the Cubs. Whne you’re done, the only thing you don’t remember reading about is why they lost.

>>> the Washington Post’s Robin Givhan <<<

Often the average shameless “objective journalist” will use its perch on a major “company town” circular like the Washington Post in order to pre-launch a career as a flak in public relations.

The Robin Givhan career trajectory is very predictable.

Not sure I have...all that stands out is competence (Obama isn't), toothbrush mustache, and Michelle.

Hitler was ABLE to secure the Olympics for Germany.

Do up-and-coming athletes attend the Olympic selection site meeting? I thought International Olympic Committee members were in general former athletes. Maybe Michelle should have talked to them instead.

The genitive of rhinoceros is rhinocerotos (Greek). I suppose the Latin genitive would be rhinocerotis, making the nominative plural rhinocerotes.

Anybody who hasn’t read the whole thing should. It’s such an ass-suck job that it’s an hilarious parody of itself.
