Why Obama's Boyish Utopia Endangers Us
Townhall.com ^ | 10.04.09 | Kevin McCullough

President Barack Obama is still just a lost boy at his age, and he searches for a world he wished existed. His insistence upon living in his world, though attractive to the uneducated, neglected, and naive, is dangerously heaping hot coals of consequence on the heads of those who know better...

...President Obama believes his good press far too often, trusts his advisors' agreement as a sign of genuine critical analysis, and believes the American people are too unenlightened to truly understand his methods. All three realities push the President further into an altered state of worldview that are having disastrous impact on the life of average Americans.

My apologies for spamming this point, but I believe its important to start this thought moving:

:

It seems to me every commentator is missing the biggest implication of this fiasco. Obama and his administration had to have really believed they had this in the bag, that it was a done deal. If they thought otherwise, they would have been managing expectations of the press that this was a hard sale

This means that we have a president and his staff who is either too arrogant or too stupid to see the reality of his negotiating position. Either reason is cause for grave concern when he is faced with negotiating with our enemies.

In short, we are screwed.

He needs to be smacked down with a dose of reality! He & his wife need to go live with the Hollywood celebrities, where the general mindset is that everyone in the world loves them & are interested in their personal lives.

He has done nothing but endanger us from the start, with his world apology tour! And now, enforcing ideology of his radical connections! And for God’s sake, who in this country gives a rats @ss about their damn date nights!!!

Another article pointed out in detail how the Obama regime says they had "bad intelligence" and were convinced that this was a close call, and a personal presidential push would close the deal. Many articles have finished with the concluding question that if he can't get this right what will happen when he gets down to business with foreign rivals and adversaries.

It's been done. You can stop spamming any time.

So, Welcome to the real world - Barack Hussein Obama.

We are seeing a proliferation of articles such as this in the more conservative press, which basically say: Obama and his gang are clueless and dangerous. We’ve seen a few hints of that, or nibbling around the edges, in the MSM. As their cluelessness becomes more and more difficult to deny, the MSM will finally begin acknowledging reality just to save what’s left of their credibility. Then Obama might find himself in a downward spiral he can do nothing to recover from. At least that’s the hope and change I’m hoping for now.

No. He's not a lost boy. He's a communist. And all communists believe they can make that fantasy 'utopia paradise world' real if only 'THEY' were in charge.

In short, they're mentally ill. No? Don't think so?

YOU go to a shrink and say you believe in a 'Utopian Paradise'. Whree Unicorns roam free and the skies are filled with clouds of cotton candy. It rains gum drops and tree leaves are $50 bills where 'everyone' can go pick them as needed.

You'll be in a padded cell and shot full full of Thorazine stat. Communism is effectively the same thing.

Most troubling is the amount of support he has in Congress.

Many articles have finished with the concluding question that if he can't get this right what will happen when he gets down to business with foreign rivals and adversaries.

Obama has a skewed, distorted view of reality due in large part to the fact that narcissists are threatened by and accordingly avoid self-examination (and that includes examination of the self and the world into which the self fits) and they tend to cling to childish and outdated mindsets.

His view is certainly childlike...and that can and will be lead to dangerous missteps in dealing with our national adversaries.

To a person like Obama who is a naive narcissist, all intelligence is going to be "bad" intelligence because he is incapable of understanding what it means to reality. He can only see intelligence as it applies to his peculiar and dreamy/nightmarish parallel dimension of reality.

The Olympics fiasco revealed a very frightening problem with Obama. If insanity is defined by one's failure to come to grips with reality (and even measured by one's distance from reality), our President is seriously unplugged.

I agree that his overall project is not based on naivete but on a desire for power and control. However, because he is a narcissist, what he is having trouble understanding is why this cannot be accepted by everybody all over the world, that is, why he's not getting the praise and adulation he expected when he started publicly bashing the US, as president thereof.

He wasn't naive so much as blinded by his own narcissism. He thought that as soon as he made it clear that he despises the US and all it stands for and that as soon as he distanced himself from it and presented himself, with his Muslim-Marxist orientation, as the main project, the world would fall down and worship because this is what most of them wanted. He's puzzled as to why this hasn't happened yet.

IMO, the narcissist is, by his very nature, naive. Most folks, as they grow up, are forced by circumstances (i.e. school/job/mate) to carefully examine themselves and life to rid themselves of their erroneous ideas about life (their naivete).

As a narcissist, Obama can't do that or he would learn that he is just a standard issue human and not a god/demigod.

Somewhere along the line, a young narcissist has to make a choice...he must choose reality (and let that reality pound some humility into him) or he must choose the fantasy that he is a deity and avoid all things that will threaten that view (and remain naive as to how the world really operates). He can't have it both ways.

It is obvious which path Obama chose.

Good analysis. Yes, it’s very clear which path he chose.

This would be a minor annoyance in an acquaintance...that is, you could just avoid him and refuse to play along with his delusion. But the terrifying thing is that this delusional person has power over us all.

It’s been a challenge to decide if he’s just an ego-driven leftist or a completely incompetent man who’s out of his depth.

Your “spam point” reconciles the two.

The Olympics debacle is illustrative of the driving forces of this administration.

We’re in for some messes that will be very tough to untangle.

The only reason Obama went to Copenhagen is because the Daley machine forced him to. Chicago had invested $50 million in preparing this bid. They had a lot riding on this gambit.

I for one thought that there was no way that Chicago would get the bid, making it the third time in 32 years that the Summer Olympics would be held in the US. And maybe most Americans don't understand how loved Brazilians are in the sports world, mainly due to their enthusiastic and warm fans who support Brazilian football, the most respected and successful in the world's most popular sport. Pele was worth ten Obamas when it comes to convincing the IOC to vote for Rio. And the fact that South America has never hosted the Olympics really made it no contest.

Chicago received 18 votes out of 94. I just don't believe that the Chicago team did not know generally how the vote totals stood. Obama was the Hail Mary pass. It didn't work. Obama was the tool of the Chicago political machine and he went on this suicide mission to placate them even if it meant humiliating himself and the office of the President. That is the scary part to me. Who else has leverage over this guy?

Yep!

That quality in a President is scary.

BTW, it occurs to me that there is another type of human that chooses naivete over reality (yet they know full well that they personally aren't deities).

Those are the folks that cling to fantasy because they simply refuse to grow up. They believe that, if they ignore the painful realities of life, it will somehow go away.

We know them as "liberals"...

I agree that it probably wasn’t his idea, and I suspect that it was at the behest of Valerie Jarrett (and, by extension, the Chicago mafia) that he did this. However, I think he really did believe that his presence alone would be the one thing necessary to guarantee it.

I doubt that Obama comes up with many ideas - or any ideas - on his own, but he probably selects which ones he likes based on how well they fit with his deluded perception of himself. I think he’s really shocked that the IOC didn’t go along with this.

Bambi would never have gone to Copenhagen if he hadn’t thought he was going to “win.” He has never, ever done anything in his life where he was not guaranteed a win...one of the reasons that his early academic career is hidden is that he is not very smart and didn’t do very well, and until he was picked up by powerful people he didn’t have a lot of wins.

He got his positions in Chicago through fraud and the support of powerful people, and I think you could say he got the Presidency the same way. He doesn’t take risks because his construct is not strong enough to stand up to them.

I think he’s crazy and I think he truly believes the Obama Messiah Myth. That’s why I think he’s stunned...and enraged. We shall see what he does next.

Disagree. He went because he had no choice. The "powerful people" to whom he is indebted, called in their marker. You go or else something bad may happen.

He got his positions in Chicago through fraud and the support of powerful people, and I think you could say he got the Presidency the same way. He doesn’t take risks because his construct is not strong enough to stand up to them.

The risk in this case was the consequences of saying no to the Daley machine, which had $50 million in the game. Obama has a lot of people who can make life difficult for him. Bill Ayers, for example, could divulge exactly what kind of relationship they had, including his role in Obama's autobiography. I am sure Axelrod has a few things that he can hold over Obama's head. Obama has struck a Faustian bargain with the Daley machine.

I predict that there are other failures that will totally blindside the Obama team: The failure of Cap and Tax, The health care bill's failure to pass, The failure of most Democrat incumbents to retain their seats in 2010, and finally, Obama's humilitating, crippling defeat at the hands of Sarah Palin in 2012.

There is an old canard that says one should never automatically assume malice or criminality when something can as easily be explained by ignorance or stupidity.

In Obama's case, it is increasingly apparent to all but his most jaded partisan supporters that the door is rapidly closing on the easier excuses of "ignorance or stupidity".

No-body's policies and goals can be 100% consistently against America's best interests and the assumption remain it can be anything other than deliberate. At some point, even the hopeful well wishers must forsake the blinders and face the reality of what sort of man America has elected to the highest office in the land.

We are so screwed.

The tipping point for me was GM’s bondholders. A real economy destroyer - institutions turning on the Rule of Law and stable contracts, to pay of union cronies.

What will be appropriate (nationalized), next? That act, alone, just drives regular Americans nuts - where to store OUR money, where it won’t be TAKEN AWAY?? This type of act will escalate, I fear, if unemployment goes higher. A “national emergency” will be declared, and ALL of our wealth, savings, IRAs etc will be “needed” to correct the economy.

When - it was the initial “intervention” that has caused a lock up in market spending & lending flows!

Nice goin’, Chi(cago)-coms - you destroyed a competitive (efficient, improving, expanding) economy.
