BUENOS AIRES (AFP) Drought could parch close to 70 percent of the planet's soil by 2025 unless countries implement policies to slow desertification, a senior United Nations official has warned.
>
"A green deal is necessary" for developing countries working to combat drought, he stressed.

Wizening planet ping.
I wonder how many sheeple will buy this?
I am sick of these liberal pukes spouting out the most absurd nonsense and having it taken seriously by ANYONE.
Really, I keep expecting a Government edict one morning that blue is now to be called red, because red offends American Indians and if they’re offended the eco-system will be forever demolished and all life on Mother Earth will expire in 2015 at 12:05 P.M. (unless Barack Hussein Obama (m.m.m.) is still President then, and can save us all).
Translated into English: "Give us billions of dollar$ right now and keep it coming until we say stop"
The sad thing is that there are probably people who read this drivel and start quaking in their boots. If this was an actual trend (which I don’t believe), there is no way in Hell that a “green deal” is going to make the slightest difference.
I'd like to see 100 percent desertification of the UN from U.S. soil by the end of the first week of Oct. of '09.
this week’s extortion plan...
In 2025 Michigan will rule the world. We have plenty of water here, sell it to the middle east for $120 a barrel.
Let's see: 70 percent of the member countries will desert the UN in 15 years....
WAHOO!
So this God in the UN knows more than our heavenly Father.
They have no word for 'stop.'
Good, I’ll move my little cactus outside this winter. Not!
You'll have to join OWET: the Organization of Water Exporting Towns.
Yet, you NEVER see anyone, in the MSM or otherwise, calling these morons on their predictions when they don’t come true. Someone should stop by Ted Danson’s house and ask him about all his hysterical claims about the present from 10 years back.
In the old days, Biblical times, drought was fought by sack cloth and ashes, a renewal of desire to attribute what isn’t drought to the Great God in Heaven and plead for his mercy by humbling oneself to live as the ten commandments “suggested”.
If I can find someone who cares what Ted Danson says, I'll get right on it.
So the earth needs more clouds and more water
which comes from increasing CO2, that dangerous evil greenhouse gas the “world” is trying to tax out of existence
D’oh!
“By a green deal is necessary they mean we want your money....”
BINGO! That is exactly what it’s all about! Put the squeeze on the industrialized nations.
Yup. That's why I like the short time line. I knew I'd live to see what, if anything, predicted in books like The Closing Circle would come to be. None of it came to be.
I don’t really care about Ted either. Its just that (about a decade ago), he was making some pretty vocal and hystical claims about what would happen in the next 10 years. You can probably fill in the blanks with any number of names. Right now, Prince Charles seems to be the leading celebrity hysteric.
If the world is warming, this is bad news for deserts. We know for absolute certain from observed changes to the geological record (not from computer models) that during warm periods, deserts shrink as there is more evaporation from the seas.
Is this a roundabout way of telling us that global warming is not happening?
If the earth was warming up, it would result in increased rainfall due to ocean evaporation.
The good news is: G-d is 'still' in control.
Woot woot!!!! More desserts world wide sounds like a great thing!
In the Tennessee Valley watershed
We've been up to our eyeballs in water
Heck, Georgia wanted to annex a strip of
SE Tennessee to gain access to the
Tennessee river for Atlanta
Does that mean I don’t have to replace the dehumidifier in my house to as we fight against increadible wetness and potential for mold growth?
Dry and warm sounds great to me.
When CO2 levels are high plants become more efficient at water utilization and deserts recede. When CO2 levels are low. Deserts grow.
So if they are so worried about desertification, the solution is simple. Raise the CO2 level. Oh wait, that then what could they scare people with co2 and fake global warming crap.
Do any of these people take science classes, understand the scientific method or just plain read?
Not with Rich Rodriguez as head coach.
i forget which Caribbean nation it was,but we or the U.N. were planting trees to replace those chopped down which was destroying the soil. Of course, they cut down the new trees as well because they knew some idiot would come along and plant new ones.
Haiti or Dominican Republic i believe.
LOL!
If red offends “Native Americans” (you erred by using the offensive term American indians) then we can’t have blue either because it might remind people of the expression “beaten black and blue” which is offensive to “African Americans” because of their skin color and because of the music they originated called “the Blues”. Also blue is the color associated with little boys’ bedrooms and this leads to a male dominated society which cannot be allowed to happen. Thinking about this problem has led me to conclude that there are no inoffensive colors so the only solution is for the whole world to be bleached...no, wait, that won’t work either.
What we need is a cap and trade system for offense taking so that we can be certain that everyone is equally offended, then there will be no reason for anyone to complain.
Green wind farms increase desertification and climate change downwind. It’s not possible to extract gigawatts of energy from the surface wind and have no climate change. They never mention that. Coal power plants reduce desertification, by feeding plants and inducing more cloud cover.
“Drought could parch close to 70 percent of the planet’s soil by 2025 unless countries implement policies to slow desertification, a senior United Nations official has warned.”
Corrected version:
“Drought could parch close to 70 percent of the planet’s soil by 2025 unless countries implement policies to slow desertification, Chicken Little has warned.”
I love how each new pronouncement is even more shrill than the last.
I just read that Britney Spears is a virgin.
Real scientists warn of UN idiocy.
Another pantload from the brilliant folks at the “One World Government” group.
would love to see a history of these media predictions. I remember in junior high geography class, they used to teach us that oil will run out in 20 years. Thats 25 years ago
Huge deposits of oil, gold and diamonds COULD be discovered on the planet Mars.
.
LOL!
>> Drought could parch close to 70 percent of the planet’s soil by 2025 unless countries implement policies to slow desertification
“implement policies”, huh?
What kind of policies?
Might those policies involve stealing hundreds of billions of dollars from productive Americans and sending them to the corrupt UN?
