For Roberts, Alito, a New Visibility
Washington Post ^ | October 4, 2009 | Robert Barnes

With three new members in the past four years and the prospect of more change ahead, the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. commences this week what could be a transformative term.

New Justice Sonia Sotomayor will receive the most attention, as President Obama's historic choice begins to reveal the judicial philosophy that remained largely cloaked during her confirmation hearings. And speculation will build about whether a retirement by one of the aging liberal justices will give Obama another opportunity to make his mark.

Only a total fool would believe that the Wise Latina’s judicial style was hidden in the hearings.

Sotomayor will vote as she has been programmed to vote.

Against America, against our troops, against the 2nd. Amendment. For affirmative action, against merit.

Ya, I would be very surprised if she did NOT vote on the liberal side of any case that comes before the court. Her judicial philosophy is known.

I still don’t get the “wise Latina” comment though. Wise Latinas have the richness of their experience. But Sonya has never been a baby mama, never lived in the barrio, went to Ivy League colleges, has been a federal court judge, and lived a live that is very different than most “Latinas”.

It’s nice to know there’s at least a few judicial intellectuals still on the SC.

You expected truth out of her? ... It is whatever lie Axelgreasy has polled for most believable that these criminals use.

As 2008 voters are beginning to learn, actual voting records, or past opinions and statements are predictors of future behavior!

Any who were naive enough to ignore both State Senatorial and U. S. Senatorial voting records are now seeing that the President is governing as his records indicated he would.

To predict that the new Justice will not follow her career-long inclinations and opinions is naivete to the extreme.

She replaced a Liberal.

It’s not as though she replaced Thomas, Alito, Scalia or Roberts. She didn’t even replace Kennedy or an O’Connor.

When Obama's agenda comes before the court, just wait for the vilification of the 4 conservatives to begin in earnest. It will be like nothing you've ever seen of a sitting Justice. They will be trying to find grounds for impeachment, daily excoriating them in the press, and then call out the dogs of cable news and even maybe SNL, John Liebowitz and all the other Alinsky methods of attack.

If they are not compliant, there will be calls for court-packing, and this time, they will have no qualms about actually doing it. Hell, they are already packing the courts of appeal. FDR stepped back from the brink because he wanted to preserve the fiction of a constitutional republic, even though he didn't really believe in it. Obama doesn't care even about the fiction.
