Film on HBO makes claims about Crist's sexuality
Florida Times-Union ^ | Oct 6, 2009 | David Hunt

Posted on 10/06/2009 12:25:55 PM PDT by DesertRenegade

"Outrage," a documentary that claims to expose closeted homosexuality among elected officials who have taken stances against gay rights issues - including, it says, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist - will make its cable television debut tonight.

The film was in theaters last May. HBO is scheduled to begin showing it at 9 tonight.

Director Kirby Dick said the message remains as important as ever. He said gays and lesbians are locked in the largest civil rights struggle in the United States today and his film examines hypocrisy among lawmakers that has set back the movement.

"This is one of the real problems with the closet - when people vote against who they are for political gain or maybe to fight a rumor," Dick said in an interview with the Times-Union.

Kirby was critical of Crist because of the governor's support for Amendment 2, the constitutional provision, backed by a voter referendum in 2008, that effectively precluded same-sex marriages in Florida.

Crist's bachelor life had prompted rumors about his sexual orientation that he couldn't escape even after his December marriage to businesswoman Carole Rome. He has previously denied the rumors, as have many of his supporters.

I totally oppose the efforts of homosexual militants to normalize their lifestyle choice. What I find just as despicable are politicians who try to play both sides of the fence. I have never trusted Charlie Crist as he has become more and more of a RINO. I don't care what he does in private, but the homosexual lifestyle is so deranged that it makes me question his character. It seems to have been an open secret in Florida for years.

Frankly, the mere thought of Crist’s “sexuality,” whatever it may be, is enough to make one upchuck. I don’t care what it is.

I want to be able to vote for Marco Rubio, regardless of whom Charlie is sleeping (or doing whatever) with.

HBO is going the way of Bravo.

What these homosexuals are doing is incidious.

If you condemn a homosexual then it makes the condemnor a homosexual.

So if you accuse a commie of being a commie that makes YOU a commie...

HBO has become all sissyfied.

Shepard Smith, who hosts a popular program on Fox News and received widespread praise for his work covering Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath, also dodges questions about his sexual orientation.

Smith once chatted me up in a New York City gay piano bar, bought me drinks, and invited me back to his place. When I declined, he asked me to dinner the next night, another invitation I politely refused. We sat at the bar chatting and drinking martinis until 3 a.m., our conversation interrupted only when he paused to belt out the lyrics to whatever showtune was being performed.

If Crist came out as a homo/bi sexual, would many people be surprised at that news? I think though many people would be surprised at the open admission, nobody would be surprised at the news. In Massachusetts, Marty Meehan would fall into that category.

I would have concerns about the character of anyone performing sexual acts in an out of context location such as a men's room, secret bedroom at work, or oval office.

My vote goes to someone who maintains a lifestyle better than most in more areas than just sexuality. So that would exclude Letterman, Crist, Vitter, Clinton, Frank, etc. I just wish politicians would strive to BE better men and women instead of just ACTING like they were better than me.

I am not saying I am a paragon of virtue, but don't set yourself up as a leader of men unless you are a cut above most and provide character worthy of votes and a following.

I would hope they would oppose that unhealthy lifestyle. That’s the point. But if they are secretly practicing that perversion and embracing those deadly lifestyle practices, then I can’t trust them as my Representative. I don’t want a politician who’s a drug addict working in DC either. Any form of degenerate behavior like that opens them up for corruption.

“...his film examines hypocrisy among lawmakers...”

This is what infuriates me the most. In actuality, I don’t really care either way....gay marriage, sure, why not, whatever, none of my business. However, most gays are liberal, and most of them were VERY vocal in supporting the Usurper trash. And.....the Usurper, along with lap-dog Biden, are AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE.

When I ask any gay liberal about this, they have absolutely no explanatin, and change the subject. So, they support a candidate against gay marraige, yet they get all whiny about support for gay marriage.

I hate liars. I hate hypocrites more. There is absolutely no credibility in their argument.

And remember when that Proposition in Cali passed? They protested mormon churches, they protested businesses who voted against gay marraige. but you know who voted most against their cause? yep.....minorities, namely blacks. So why didn’t they protest in black communities?

Hypocrites....all of them. And because of that, gay marriage will NEVER succeed. You can’t fight for a cause when your own hypocrisy drowns your argument.

What is that supposed to mean? I’m proud of being a both a homophobe AND a redneck. Yes, I support the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. I oppose those who try to normalize men penetrating other men’s fecal opening for pleasure. If that’s being a “homophobe”, then I’m all for it.

homophobes.

Of course not all here believe homosexuals are perverted. I'll wager the majority do though.

Either you haven't read up on your homosexual lifestyle information, but many of us have.

Not only are they a plague that won't keep their mouths shut, they are responsible for many crimes, including serial murders.

Homosexuals have committed the majority of the serial killings in this nation and abroad. They are mentally deranged, otherwise why would one man put his penis in another's anus and call it love.

Why would these sodomists continue to press for marriage to their perverted partner?

Why would they want to adopt children?

They are a threat to polite society, but then don't you worry. They and their agenda have a strong ally in the White House which includes amongst the staffers, homosexuals, transsexuals, cross dressers and the entire gaggle of perversion.

Now you can feel comforted.

As shocking as it sounds, there is actually a lot of truth to that. I used to work as a firefighter. I remember very well when I started out at the Academy and was taking an arson investigation class from a renowned fire Captain. He told us that all the most brutal cases he had worked on involved homosexuals - especially lesbians. I’ll spare you the details, but these people are willing to commit savage murders that would take your breath away.

That is truly speaking truth to power. Not a PC word to be found in that post.

Before 1973, homosexuality had been listed as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Here's a description of the events that led to this change by the APA (from the article):

I do not have the space to go into a detailed analysis of the history leading up to the APA's decision.15 Nonetheless, it is a misconception to think that this came about only after dispassionate and scholarly discussion, and only after listening equally to all sides of the issue. Also, it is important to note that the APA's vote was anything but unanimous.

In the three years leading up to the 1973 APA meeting, the previous national meetings had been repeatedly disrupted by gay activists. At the 1970 meeting in San Francisco certain sessions were broken up with shouts and jeers, prohibiting any rational discussion or debate.

At the APA's 1971 meeting in Washington, threats and intimidation accomplished what discussion could not. Ronald Bayer, in a work sympathetic toward homosexuality and the gay rights movement, recounts: "Using forged credentials, gay activists gained access to the exhibit area and, coming across a display marketing aversive conditioning [i.e., punishing an organism whenever it makes a particular response] techniques for the treatment of homosexuals, demanded its removal. Threats were made against the exhibitor, who was told that unless his booth was dismantled, it would be torn down. After frantic behind-the-scenes consultations, and in an effort to avoid violence, the convention leadership agreed to have the booth removed."16

These tactics continued in the same manner at the APA's 1972 national meeting. It was against this backdrop that the association's trustees finally made its controversial 1973 decision. When a referendum on this was sent out to all 25,000 APA members, only a quarter of them returned their ballots. The final tally was 58 percent favoring the removal of homosexuality from their list of disorders.

Four years later, Dr. Charles Socarides — who was at the meetings and was an expert in the area of homosexuality, having treated homosexuals for more than twenty years — described the political atmosphere leading up to the 1973 vote. He writes that during this time, "militant homosexual groups continued to attack any psychiatrist or psychoanalyst who dared to present his findings as to the psychopathology [i.e., the study of mental disorders from all aspects] of homosexuality before national or local meetings of psychiatrists or in public forums."17 Elsewhere Socarides stated that the decision of the APA trustees was "the medical hoax of the century."18

Was this the end of the debate? Did the vast majority of "competent" psychiatrists agree with the APA's decision? In 1977 ten thousand members of the APA were polled at random, asking them their opinion on this. In an article entitled "Sick Again?" Time magazine summarized the results of the poll: "Of those answering, 69% said they believed 'homosexuality is usually a pathological adaptation, as opposed to a normal variation,' 18% disagreed and 13% were uncertain. Similarly, sizable majorities said that homosexuals are generally less happy than heterosexuals (73%) and less capable of mature, loving relationships (60%). A total of 70% said that homosexuals' problems have more to do with their own inner conflicts than with stigmatization by society at large."19
