Oh thanks for the reminder. A willing suspension of disbelief.

Certainly applies now!

To Obama.

I have zero confidence in Gates after he backed Bambi’s decision to cave to the Russians and Iranians and not build the missile and radar facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Or 0bama screwed up by being so susceptible to the changing political winds in the past 7 months, that it would not matter who was overseeing the military operations.

Do you think maybe that they’ve been setting US up for defeat? McC is the one who led in finding Saddam in a hole in the ground. Maybe they are trying to hang McC and his men/women by forcing their defeat/retreat. /tinfoil off

We simply have defeated ourselves in Afghania over the space of the past few months.

And if he does surge the 40K troops, the ramifications and repercussions of his vacillating, the public debate, the badmouthing and dissing of Karzai, his crawdaddying from his campaign statements have already wrecked that potential future endeavor.

Everyone’s made contingency plans. There is no belief left in the determination of the US.

The Obamawallahs have engendered a self fulfilling prophecy which in many ways, in their eyes, gives them a way of Afghanistan, unintended consequences notwithstanding in order to boost Obama’s star (that’s what they think, LOL!).

It wasn’t hitlery. Moveon.org took out a full page ad in the NYT, (for a reduced rate, no less,) calling General Petraeus “General Betrayus.”

hitlery said something about a “willing suspension of disbelief” during his appearance before the senate.

Yes, I remember that.

Make up his own mind? Well hell, let’s just disband congress and all the generals and get this dictatorship officially started!

I think that’s a pretty good description of it.

I was off at the mention of support for the F22 defunding.

We MUST keep that plane in production. We have some dark clouds on the horizon getting higher in the sky all the time.

We’re going to need that aircraft.

The short answer is yes. But I don’t think McChrystal wants a defeat, but his strategy would amount to it anyway.
bam, OTOH, would love nothing more as long as HE doesn’t get blamed for it. McChrystal read the tealeaves and turned it back around.
NOW he gets blamed for it.

McChrystal, Petraeus, Odierno, et. al., should retire en masse. Leave ostammer and his butt-boy, Gates, high and dry. Maybe ostammer can pull his other butt-boy, Powell, out of mothballs to do his bidding, which means get Americans killed for nothing for about another year, then tuck tail and scurry home.

I must admit, I’ve given that some thought. I think it’s what Obama needs, to wake his sorry ass up, but I doubt he’d get it.

Then there’s the down side to the nation. We may very well need these men in the not too distant future.

The media must wake up in this nation. I have seen ‘some’ (no much) indication that they may realizing the same thing.

I’ve seen some very interesting things come out of the Washington Post in the last few weeks. Some of the opinions are downright viscous toward Obama. George will was just published there just ripping Obma to shreds on point.

From the time he arrived, Gates has been a political butt-boy. That wasn’t a big problem when GWB was President, although Gates was still willing to cut the services off at the knees to make himself look good.

But with Obama in? Gates is PROVING what I’ve SUSPECTED for years...

He’s not someone I’ve followed as close as you have. He is someone who surfaced for me when his decisions became so bad and public I couldn’t ignore them.

I have no use for butt-boys or leftists when it comes to the military. IMO, we’ve really gone down the wrong road with our military over the last 17 years or so.

We need a hawk in there to get things back on an even keel.

There are a number of polices that need to be reversed.

The Obama people never would have given Gates his current position if there wasn't something wrong with him.

How does your logic apply to McChrystal, since he was also put in his command by Obama?
