CA 2010: Whitman supported GOP nemesis Boxer in '04 [called her a "courageous leader"] [hurl]
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 2009-10-03 | Carla Marinucci

Posted on 10/06/2009 11:01:55 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Meg Whitman, the 2010 GOP gubernatorial candidate already on the defensive for her embarrassingly poor voting record, once endorsed and actively supported Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, one of the most proudly liberal politicians in California.

Whitman not only endorsed Boxer and donated the maximum $4,000 to the junior California senator's 2004 re-election campaign, but the former eBay CEO also served on an exclusive committee of Technology Leaders for Boxer in her re-election battle against Republican California Secretary of State Bill Jones, according to election records obtained by The Chronicle.

Whitman, in a 2003 Boxer campaign statement, spoke strongly on Boxer's half, calling her "a courageous leader and friend of California's technology industry." She also signed an "open letter" appealing to Silicon Valley executives, calling Boxer a leader on issues such as her opposition to an Internet sales tax.

She supported Boxer-one of the most wretched people in American politics-ever! She was conned by the buffoon Van Jones. Sorry Meg, two strikes and you are out. The only thing you have going for you is lots of money.

Tom Campbell for Governor! He's a principled conservative and was very good in the U.S. House of Representatives.

At least it’s California; I expect Liberal Republicans there. Just as in New York, Delaware etc.. Places where I do not expect Liberal nominess are Florida, Colorado...yet the party attempts to nominate anyway.

Redstate had something about this maybe a week ago. She supported Boxer. The other guy claiming to be the conservative answer supported Gore’s recount I think. I’m unimpressed with either but if forced to choose I’d lean towards the other guy if only because some conservatives seem to favor him. I don’t think either one stand a chance but better the base be enthusiastic about a choice so they turn out for other races where a conservative candidate may stand a chance to win.

Bingo. And, given the contemporary economic climate and the likelihood that it will continue to deteriorate the next two years, I would prefer that when California does go belly-up, the Governor NOT have an (R) next to their name.

California is going insolvent. Given their financial obligations mandated by their crazy Constitution, it is inevitable. Just let it happen, and then a decent conservative can come clean up the mess.

No surprise.

Everyone was saying she’s a RINO. I said maybe, she’s pretty much a cypher, let’s give her a chance, wait and see.

We’ll I saw enough when I learned she’s crazy about that commie Van Jones and now we see she loves Babs too.

Governor Moonbeam 2.0 is gonna wreck up Cali even worse than it its now. It’s headed for third world status. But better a democrat does that than a “Republican” like the Austrian Kennedy or Whitman (or Steve Poizner or Tom Campbell for that matter).

http://www.freewebs.com/vyka/

http://www.kencares2010.com/

Those 2 guys appear to be the only conservative Republicans running for the office. A prominent conservative or moderate conservative should be able to win in the RINO heavy field but none are running.

Boxer a “friend to High Tech”????

what a load of crap...heres why

Because of Boxer..California has strict rules for running Diesel Generators...

when we had rolling brown-outs in California under Democrat Grey Davis..Intel Corp asked California if they could run their Diesel Generators during the brown outs...so they wouldn’t loose Millions of dollars processing Computer chips....California said...”NO”
Intels CEO said Intel will never build another Factory in California....Boxer is no Friend of anyone but Her Commie Rat Fellow Travelers.

I stopped beleiving these HIT PIECES BY Dem Party Newsletters like SF Chronicle. If these vile left wing rag is attacking her then I like her more since she is a threat to them .

The Sac Bee ran another completely fraudelent story about her voting record and was caught red handed lying about her real record by Hugh Hewitt !

So why does anyone beleive anything from the Obama state media ?

The Constitution Party has a serious chance for some political credibility here with their candidate for Governor, Chelene Nightingale, but I seriously don’t see a majority of conservative voters actually deciding to vote for her. Chelene Nightingale is one of the most conservative candidates running for Governor of California, if not the most conservative candidate running for governor.

Boxer released the information, BUT as noted HERE in my locality,

"The Whitman campaign spokescritter chalks this endorsement of one of the Senate’s most liberal members all up to Boxer’s opposition to internet sales tax. That might be enough to perhaps explain a small donation, or for someone running for the State assembly. It is not enough to explain a max donation and a hearty endorsement from someone running for a position as prominent as the Governor of California."

"Furthermore, the gubernatorial nominee will be campaigning simultaneously with either Chuck Devore or Carly Fiorina to unseat Boxer herself - how will that look when Boxer starts running commercials using Whitman’s words?"

-----------

Boxer manges to win reelection because she plays dirty and her opponent had better be ready and able to do the same. If Meg is the GOP nominee for Governor, Chuck or Carly had best stay far away from her.

Tom Campbell, conservative? Sorry truthguy, but abortion loving Tom Campbell was as much a "principled conservative" as Hitler was an orthodox Jew. Even if ignore the fact he had a lifetime ACU rating under 60% and he's more liberal than many Democrats on abortion and gay "rights", this guy was Ahnuld's budget director four years ago (I wish calcowgirl was still posting on FR regularly, she could decisively show that Arnold was ALWAYS a RINO and didn't "start off good and then drift leftward"). Let's not forget Campbell comes from a liberal Democrat family and lost his OWN district by 15 points the last time he ran for statewide office. He sucks as much as Whitman.

Now that it's blatantly obvious Whitman's a RINO, freepers are coming out of the woodwork to claim Campbell or Poizner would be better. Sorry. I wish it were true, but all three "major" GOP candidates for Governor are total RINOs and unacceptable.

Ahnuld's really shown the foible of "vote for any R who can win". What did we accomplish with six years of "Republican" rule under him? About the same as we'll accomplish with six years of "Republican" Mark Kirk in Obama's senate seat.

I was wondering why I haven’t seen Calcowgirl post, cause she hasn’t for several months.

Anyway Campbell, I thought he was a fiscon in congress but like most the alleged solib fiscons it’s a lie, he’s called for tax hikes. Useless RINO.

Poizner too, he has a long history of supporting and giving money to rats and rat causes. It’s too bad he was the Republican that ran against the only downballot Cali rat anyone was gonna beat (Bustamante).

I would not vote for any of those 3 for Governor.

As to Arnie he did support some good ballot initiatives way back when (they all failed) that’s about the only good thing he ever did in office. Given the goings on in Cali I would say he must at least be in the discussion for being one of the worst Governors in the history of the United States. I wish way back when that he had fallen for HHH’s spiel instead of Nixon’s and became a democrat. He may be so stupid he doesn’t even know he’s the very kind of socialist that he speaks against in speech’s to the GOP faithful.

The problem with California is that it has the same mentality as the bigger cities.

When things go wrong, the majority asks, “What other liberal democrat can we elect to try to fix this? That liberal democrat or this liberal democrat?”

Calling a liberal Republican a change is like calling piss champagne and trying to convince everyone to smile while sipping.

The problem is not the party or the candidate.
The problem is the failed ideology that each candidate follows.

It`s my belief that Meg`s ultimate goal is to run for President. I think McClain has convinced her that she could be the first female President.

I do not understand how so many people see themselves as Presidential material? I take that back, the bar has been set pretty low in recent years. I am talking of Democrats, that is.

Put this Meg up against OUR Sarah, I mean what is she thinking!!!

CA is not a recipient state. Part of CA’s budget problem is the money spent on illegals thanks to failed federal policies. Although the CA govt’ may have to broke to save the state, people in other states should not be cheering for its demise b/c CA is a huge part of the national economy. Maybe then we can purge the party of all these democrat operatives like Snow, Spector, Collins, McCain, Whitman, etc.
