So were they lying then or are they lying now? Show us the way, you and your buddies first.

A year ago the “official line” in total stated H1N1 (aka Swine-Flu XX) WAS NOT A PROBLEM, the public should not worry and that effects were minimal… since most vaccines are well over a year late with rapidly mutating viruses what makes anyone believe that there is any benefit except profit for corrupt “Friends of Government” once again at the expense of the public.

I’m wondering if any of the posters here actually read the article. The word “must” was used only in the AP’s bogus headline. Sebelius was never quoted in the article even remotely to that effect. Now I grant you that her credibility is greatly undermined by her claim of “unconditional” safety, which is nonsense since nothing is unconditionally safe. And certainly I give virtually no credibility to any Obama official. However, my own research leads me to believe that this vaccine is no more and no less safe than any other U.S. FDA-approved influenza vaccine.

Already, two people in Boulder County (Colorado) are known to have died from H1N1, the first of whom is a 12 year old boy who came to my house several times with his mother just days before he became ill and died quite quickly, even though he was in intensive care. Post-mortem testing showed he succumbed to H1N1.

Thus, based on my own person experience, I can tell you that H1N1 is not to be taken lightly, particularly for children.

BTW, there are no adjuvants in the current FDA-approved U.S. H1N1 vaccines. To claim otherwise is tin-foil-hatism. Anyone can verify this with a bit of research on the CDC's H1N1 page. I posted the following earlier:

I just did extensive research on the CDC site on the possibility of adjuvants in the H1N1 vaccine.

This concerns me because it is widely acknowledged that adjuvants in feline vaccines have induced an epidemic of hyperthyroidism and injection-site sarcomas in cats. As a consequence, I no longer vaccinate my cats, which are mostly indoors anyway, unless there is a specific threat in my neighborhood. Mass vaccinations are mainly to protect the general population and not the specific animal anyway. Furthermore, I use only adjuvant-free (Purevax) vaccines.

Cat Vaccinations

Considering I have serious immune system problems already, I was horrified to read the rumors of adjuvants in the H1N1 vaccine. However, upon investigation, I discovered that none of these rumor-mongering sites are credible in general, most being of the tin-foil-hat variety. Furthermore, extensive research on the CDC's H1N1 page by searching for "h1n1 adjuvants" shows that no FDA-licensed H1N1 vaccine in the U.S. currently contains adjuvants, nor has any U.S. FDA-approved influenza vaccine ever contained an adjuvant. Influenza vaccines can contain adjuvants only if the Emergency Use Authorization act is invoked in the case of an unexpected pandemic. The purpose of adding adjuvants at this point would be to stretch a limited supply of vaccine and/or to make existing vaccines more potent against its target if existing vaccines were not working well because of mutations or other reasons.

Also, the intranasal vaccine, which is single dose, does not contain thimerosal, and single-dose injections free from thimerosal will also be available. So from an adjuvant perspective, the U.S. H1N1 vaccines are safe, and single-dose vaccines can be obtained without mercury-based preservatives. While no mercury is good in the human body, just keep in mind that the University of Rochester reports that a tuna fish sandwich contains more mercury than a vaccine. Quite frankly, I would be more concerned about aduvants, which indeed are contained in several childhood vaccines.

Two years ago I took the seasonal flu shot offered by my company. Four days later I was admitted into the hospital because my throat was partially paralyzed and I could not swallow. Ten days later I was released from the hospital after numerous tests that confirmed I had contracted a virus that attacked the sheathing on my cranial nerves. I have lost the use of muscles in my left shoulder and still at times find it hard to swallow and sometimes slur a little.
My wife is an RN and will not take ANY flu shot. I will never take them again and regret taking the first one.

Great post. I tell all my patients to shun all vaccines. Amounts to nothing more than attritional derangement of the immune sysytem. I and my family have had no vaccinations and are very healthy.

Hawk, I am a writer by trade and tend to be one of Free Republic's biggest pains in the patoot with regard to grammatical errors and typos. I, too, was a little turned off by Sprite's use "right" instead of "write" ...

... and I pondered sending Sprite a friendly, helpful FReepmail (as I have myself received them from fellow FReepers) to advise him/her of the misuse of a word ...

... then I recalled a time when I consistently wrote "flower" instead of "flour" in an article I turned in about cooking. Not just once did I make the mistake, but consistently, throughout the article!!! Now, I knew the difference between "flour" and "flower," but for some reason, though I proofed and honed the story multiple times before turning it it, the mistake flat failed to register with my conscious mind.

Maybe that's what happened with Sprite, who knows!

On the positive side .... after all the vaccinated liberals start dying off in droves, there should be lots of new job openings. So this vaccine program could be a big shot in the arm for the economy. (pun intended)

Wow sorry to hear about that, that is one of the reasons I refuse flu shots, I will only take vaccines on stuff that is nearly 100% deadly or contractible with effects, Mumps, rubella, Polio, smallpox etc....

Vaccinating against the flu is kind of like the abuse of anti-biotics.

If you are really sick all of the time and susceptible then you may need regular anti-biotics and flu vaccines, but if you are normally healthy person don’t abuse the vaccine.

Every time you take a vaccine you take a risk, it is best to minimize risks.

If you meet someone who says "goodbye", tells you the sky is green, and that if you drop something it will fall up, would you conclude that the next thing this person tells you would be true?

These Democrat Party organs are wrong about everything.

EVERYTHING.

Why would anyone think they're telling the truth about the H1N1 vaccine?

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I think that all businesses who received TARP money should be mandated to get the H1N1 shots.

Hear, Hear, Kathleen and all the elected officials in DC first. let’s see what the real side effects are. Or will we even be able to tell the difference.
