Tom DeLay: Retired Dancer, Birther Ally
CBS News ^ | October 7, 2009 | Brian Montopoli

Posted on 10/08/2009 5:41:46 AM PDT by Zakeet

Former House majority leader Tom Delay, who last night dropped out of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars," has once again expressed skepticism that President Obama is a citizen of the United States.

That aligns DeLay, a Republican once known as "The Hammer," with the so-called "birther" movement. The birthers' claims have repeatedly been shown to be illegitimate.

Newsweek noted in an interview with DeLay that he "got into some trouble for saying on TV that you weren't sure President Obama was born in the United States."

"What I said was, to answer a question from Chris Matthews, I said: Why wouldn't the president of the United States show the American people his birth certificate?," DeLay responded. "You have to show a birth certificate to play Little League baseball. It's a question that should be answered. It's in the Constitution that you have to be a natural-born citizen of the United States to be president."

Asked Newsweek: "Do you think he isn't a citizen?"

"I have no idea," said DeLay.

I prefer the term “Manchurian Candidaters”...

Perhaps if we start using it, it will stick.

Certainly makes a stronger and more accurate point.

Still waiting to see that overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

True. If someone is able to prove he is NOT constitutionally eligible, they've failed to do it effectively and legally. They certainly have a lot of circumstantial evidence, but not enough to force the door open.

Nor have they yet found a way to force Obama to prove he IS constitutionally eligible.

There's a stalemate at this point, and it favors the guy in office.

So if I decide to apply for a job, any job, in the USA it is up to the prospective employer to prove I am ineligible - or in the absense of any evidence to the contrary - hire me?

That’s not how the rest of American jobs work. Why should the presidency?? Even if you apply for the job of dog catcher, you will need to prove your eligibility for the I-9 employement form. The employer is required to verify you are eligible.

Wee-wee applied for this job. Has yet to demonstrate he’s legally qualified to even hold it.

Seems rather determined NOT to, in fact. Why is that?

> He made a fool of himself and played into the hands of the left who look for stuff like this.

Has to be said. It was a massive setup (the left didn’t just look for it, they arranged for it), and he twinkled-toed right into it.

...never watch the show, but saw a clip run on FOX of DeLay dancing like a robot in his red pants and his Republican striped shirt. The worst dressed golfers don't look that bad. There's a line one can cross where the style is accepted from bad into edgy or hip; but DeLay wins for "the worst dressed dancer", plus he made the "elephant" cheesy and "unhip" well. He just became the poster child for why not to vote Republican.

FTA:

The Obama campaign released Mr. Obama's Certificate of Live Birth during the presidential campaign. The president's original birth certificate was not released by the state of Hawaii because state law prohibits doing so except under extenuating circumstances; Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, has said she has seen it and that it verifies Mr. Obama's birth and citizenship.

This mendacious paragraph is enough to make anyone who is not already a birther a birther. First, it says the Obama campaign released the Illegal Alien's "Certificate of Live Birth," an outright falsehood. The document released was a "Certification of Live Birth," which is a secondary document based on the original "Certificate of Live Birth," that the Illegal Alien has spent more than a million dollars to keep hidden.

Then it goes on to say, "the state of Hawaii [hasn't released the Certificate] because state law prohibits doing so except under extenuating circumstances," but fails to mention that one of those circumstances is the person covered by the certificate authorizing its release, precisely what the Illegal Alien has refused to do.

If the Illegal Alien's defenders have to resort to totally false and disingenuous defenses like this, that's strong evidence indicating he's not a citizen.

States need to be amending their statutes to include specific language about proof of citizenship before a person can be included on a ballot. Now is the time to do this.

If we really think this through, there is NO WAY that Obozo can be a Natural Born Citizen.

If he was born in Kenya, that pretty much does it. Even the Obots can't say in good conscience that he is a NBC. They'll of course try to argue that "his mother was an American citizen." But (big BUT) on the other hand if he was born in Hawaii, his father's British citizenship doesn't matter???

Now they can't have it both ways! If his mother's US citizenship overrides his father's if a Kenyan birth, but his father's UK citizenship doesn't override his mother's if a Hawaiian birth? Talk about being inconsistent!

Bottom line: No matter WHERE he was born, it is not possible for Hussein to be a Natural Born Citizen. He is a dual citizen, at best!

You used the word “should.”

I’m talking about what “is.” You can either prove he’s ineligible and get him out or you can’t.

If you read the constitution, there is no one tasked with verifying elibility requirements. That “should” be fixed, but it hasn’t been and isn’t being.

I say this as someone who thinks Obama “should” produce his long form certificate. I have found no way to force that, nor have any number of smarter, far more famous minds than my own. If you have a way to force it, go for it.

In other news, partisan Democrat hacks STILL have not brought Tom DeLay’s prosecution to trial.

Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, has said she has seen it and that it verifies Mr. Obama's birth and citizenship.

Wouldn't that mean that she has illegally inspected the document if "she's seen it" and it is off limits?

When Democrat hacks violated the powers of their office in Ohio and snooped Joe the Plumber's records, there was legal reprisal.

And that is the whole p;oint, NO ONE KNOWS.

We do know his father is British, and THAT alone makes him ineligible for POTUS, he is a Dual citizen.

Tom DeLay???

Why, I thought he was in prison somewhere for crimes against humanity or some such. I recall he was ceremoniously removed from CONgre$$ as the most corrupt being on the face of the planet. What's he doing appearing in public on Dancing with the Stars and featured in a seeBS article?

In other news, Charles Rangel will be permitted by "the most ethical congress ever" Democrats to remain in the ways and means chair while he fights charges he was a tax cheat. Ted Poe (R-TX) voted "present".

Update: House Dems move to quash Remove Rangel resolution, 243-156 (10/7/2009 Michelle Malkin)

Actually, his citizenship IS an issue, whether he is Natural Born, is an issue for holding the office of POTUS.
If he is not naturalized, then he may not be a US Citizen at all, in any capacity.
There is evidence that he was adopted by Lolo Soetero in Indonesia, and then had a legal name change to Barry Soetero. There is no evidence that I have seen, and I have followed this closely, that he ever had a legal name change in the US to Barak Hussien Obama II.
Therefore, he may not be a US Citizen, rather an Indonesian citizen, before which he could have been born in Kenya which would make him a British Subject.
Nothing I have seen has proven him to be a US Citizen, Natural Born, naturalized, or anything else.
