Mostly semantics: “member” is hard to prove or disprove, as NAMBLA doesn’t make their membership public, for obvious reasons. We only have his actions and words to judge that by.

Just sayin’.

It had occurred to me that, for example, one engineering organization to which I belong bestows the titles of “Student Member,” “Member,” “Fellow,” and “Senior Fellow.” To get to Fellow or beyond you have to apply to be recognized for something special. Maybe, by analogy, Hay documented buggering 100 kids or sumfin.
