WASHINGTON (AFP) NASA next week begins the most extensive aerial survey of Earth's surface to chart the impact of global warming, with six years of flights over Antarctica to understand the frozen continent's glaciers and ice sheets.
The US space agency said the massive aerial survey, part of a program dubbed Operation Ice Bridge, will get underway on October 15.

Space officials said the plane, crew and scientists depart October 12 from NASA's Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility in Palmdale, California, and fly to Punta Arenas, Chile, where they will be based through mid-November.
Some 50 scientists and support personnel are part of the mission, which will involve 17 flights over the southern polar region.

Handout photo released in 2008 by the British Antarctic Survey shows of a chunk of ice that started to break away from the Antarctic Wilkins Ice Shelf. Millions of years ago, rivers ran in Antarctica through craggy mountain valleys that were strangely similar to the European Alps of today, Chinese and British scientists reported on Wednesday. NASA - the intergalactic version of the US Post Office. Waste of taxpayer money.
They did great work when Von Braun ran the show.
NASA: Never A Straight Answer.
IF global warming is true, then we have nothing to worry about!
Once all the snow is melted off of Antarctica, just THINK of all that land we’ll have to inhabit! It’s HUGE!
"Negotiating an underwater tunnel [beneath the ice] to gain the island's interior, those aboard U-33 are amazed to discover a tropical prehistoric world kept warm by volcanic forces. Here dinosaurs that should be long extinct live and roam, as do a curious race of humanoid savages that appear to exhibit all the various phases of Man's evolutionary development. To survive long enough to repair and replenish the U-boat, wartime enemies must put aside their differences and cooperate with one another. But not everyone is playing from the Kumbaya songbook...
The Land That Time Forgot is a thoroughly old fashioned sci-fi/fantasy adventure of the type they weren't really making anymore even in 1975. A lot of this has to do with the script sticking to Burroughs' Victorian style. (His Caprona tales were first published in 1918; as late as World War II he'd still be cranking out novels in the writing style of the 19th Century.) The film's a throwback to the likes of the original King Kong and potboilers such as Unknown Island (1948) and The Land Unknown (1957), only in color."

Global warming is a real threat.
Global warming is phoney baloney.
Which conclusion results in a big budget increase?
Presto! The results of the “study” are revealed.
Since NASA is SUPPOSED to be that agecy dealing with aernautics and space (ie vehicles man vehicles) what in the hell are they doing wasted time on this for??? Isn’t NOAA’s budget big enough???
It’s only because they neglected to have a replacement satellite up in time. Dangerous to personnel and a heavy CO2 footprint. Might even cause global warming and a rise in sea level to flood the White House.
If the results don’t support Global Warming, we’ll never hear about them.
My thoughts exactly.
>> If the results dont support Global Warming, well never hear about them. <<
Nah they will only publish the temp increases that occur and be strangely silent on the temp decreases.
Everytime the temp increases by .0001 degrees you will hear bloody screaming murder from them.
So Ice breaks off in perfectly polished straight lines??
Is it likely that NASA will "discover" anything other than what the current administration wants it to find? I.e., "undeniable" evidence of global warming?
Science has become just another whore in the political stable.
I've been doing a little research on my own. I measured the length of daylight per day every day since July. I can now unequivocally state that by this time next year we will have no daylight at all, it will be night time forever.
