White House science czar John Holdren has predicted 1 billion people will die in "carbon-dioxide induced famines" in a coming new ice age by 2020.
As WND previously reported, Holdren predicted in a 1971 textbook co-authored with Malthusian population alarmist Paul Ehrlich that global over-population was heading the Earth to a new ice age unless the government mandated urgent measures to control population, including the possibility of involuntary birth control measures such as forced sterilization.
Holdren's prediction that 1 billion people would die from a global cooling "eco-disaster" was announced in Ehrlich's 1986 book "The Machinery of Nature."
Holdren based his prediction on a theory that human emissions of carbon dioxide would produce a climate catastrophe in which global warming would cause global cooling with a consequent reduction in agricultural production resulting in widespread disaster.
On pages 273-274 of "The Machinery of Nature," Ehrlich explained Holdren's theory by arguing "some localities will probably become colder as the warmer atmosphere drives the climactic engine faster, causing streams of frigid air to move more rapidly away from the poles." I saw this shift when I was going to Berkeley in the early 1980s. In my Mathematics classes, the modelers were all atwitter about Global Warming, and the new mathematical models that purported to show that US consumption was going to destroy the Earth. At the same time, in my Economics classes, my professors were all excited about the coming Ice Age, and how excess US consumption was going to cause the Earth to freeze like a giant ice cube.
The one thing they agreed on is that the World was going to end and that it was all our fault. They just could not agree on how. At the end, the one thing they all had in common is that they were Socialists.
Seems like all the bases are covered alright. It will be hotter in some places and colder in others at different times. Can't argue with that.
Just as long as carbon dioxide can be used to terrify the sheeple into giving up cars, electricity and most of all moeny, it really doesn’t matter whether it’s warming or cooling, does it?

No, it will be the negative tsunami caused by the global ocean retreat caused by the global warming caused by Bush. (Who himself was caused by Bush if you REALLY think about it) The vacuum created when the seas retreat will kill almost anything that wasn’t killed by Bush, either by bombs, his evangelical past, or the global warming, and large numbers of concerned scientists have already published studies proving this. The most vulnerable will be those endangered species who have gathered in coastal areas because their habitat has been under attack by right-wing gun toting wingnuts who don’t have the sense to move out of the heartland of America where there are no city people much smarter than they are who can tell them how to live and what to think.
No problem, the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, so we'll all be gone well before 2020 anyway.
