For teachers and students at the Hempstead school named after Barack Obama, the surprise Nobel Peace Prize bestowed upon the president was right on time.

After all, like the Nobel committee that picked Obama, the school board acted quickly to honor the president by renaming the school Barack Obama Elementary School just after he was elected in November.

"When you see the way the world reacted to his presidency, I don't think he represents just the presidency," said second-grade teacher Rosetta Langlois. "I think he represents a new model of harmony, peace and hope."

Principal Jean Bligen said some people had questioned whether the school, the first in the nation to be named after Obama, had moved too hastily in christening itself before he even took office.

But, she said, the impact of Obama's life story and election on the school's students - not to mention the world - provides more than enough justification for both the renaming and the peace prize.

"I look at the effect it has had on our children," she said. "We saw a different approach to schoolwork. If you can get children involved and thinking about decisions at this age, that will help them when they get older."

Bobbi Murray, a fifth-grade teacher, said the peace prize would give teachers yet another way of using Obama's life to illuminate important lessons.

"We teach the children that we can solve our problems in a peaceful way," she said. "He's a role model for them. His entire career in public life has been one that has brought people together."

Please don't crack on the kids in the photo. I posted the photo to illustrate the cult of personality the adults are inculcating in the kids (note the life size cut-out of Dear Leader.) The kids are cute and if I were in their shoes I'd probably be cheering too.

What's scary is these educators who are clueless as to what Obama left behind in Chicago's schools. The sqaundered millions of dollars from the Annenberg Challenge, the hundreds of students assualted by teachers and administrators, the slaughter of students in the streets. If Obama couldn't bring a modicum of peace to Chicago for all his years of involvement there, what makes these dupes think he can bring peace anywhere else?

Again, please lay off the kids and focus on the problem: the brainwashing adults.

I feel sorry for the kids.

The adults are evil for replacing their brains with mush.

Maybe they can bring in one of those SEALS that drilled the Somali pirates on career day. He can bring his rifle and explain the trick to making a good head shot from a moving platform. Truth is relative in Obamaland.

At this age they are primarily visual. These young people see a black man as president and aspire the same dreams which is good thing. The cliches the teachers inbed in thier young minds with no substance is alarming or should I say the propaganda instilled is criminal. HOPE, CHANGE, UNITY in itself is hollow without an unbiased discussion on the man, what he stands for, how will his CHANGE effect you as you grow and enter the work force and start a family. Teachers are exploiting these children with thier own biased views. They are a captive audience and would like nothing more than to win favor with thier teachers and do well. SHAME ON ALL WHO PARTICIPATE IN THIS INDOCTRINATION! Like a doctor who takes an oath most educators have lost thiers. Schools today are either political indoctrinations centers or sexual instruction seminars. Evidence is WHERE IS AMERICAN HISTORY in all this?

Wise move. We did the same, turned out two hard right of center, one strong right of center. Considering the latter lives and works in a VERY left of center enviroment, I'm pleased.
