Dalai Lama asks Obama to champion 'liberty'
2 hrs 21 mins ago

The exiled Tibetan leader, who is in Washington, sent Obama a letter of congratulations even though the president, in an apparent bid not to upset China, avoiding meeting the Buddhist monk during his weeklong visit.

The Dalai Lama, who won the prestigious award in 1989, told Obama that the Nobel committee "recognized your approach towards resolving international conflicts through the wisdom and power of dialogue."

Liberty and victory are two words which are not in their vocabulary.

What would make you think that the Dalai Lama knows nothing about radical leftists?

Poor Tenzin. He’s spent too much time under the Bodhi tree.

Nice guy though.

"called for the US leader to champion "freedom and liberty."

No disrespect to the Lama intended, but to get to "freedom and liberty", you almost always have to spill a little blood, and sometimes a LOT of blood.

It's interesting that a man who's a professed pacifist, who represents the religion of pacifism, would choose those words. I wonder if it's intentional, on his part.

Please. You forget he is Oriental. You have to read beyond the lines on the page. He knows all about totalitarians and all about politicians. He is exercising shame therapy, in a fairly charitable way. If Obama surprises everyone and starts doing the right thing, these words by the Lama become justified praise. If Obama keeps doing the wrong thing, they are a knife of reproach wrapped in a rose. Standing up for liberty is so obviously Obama's simple duty, and so obviously what he is not doing.

The reality is that Obama is free to leave his current venality and cowardice behind at any time and live up to the Lama's blessing. It is up to him.

Hey Dalai Lama, If you think Chairman Mao was a champion for freedom and liberty, just wait till you see Obama's Cultural Revolution.

The Dalai Lama is a holy man.He reperesnts a great tradition of compassion.

There is though, a reason he does not have a country. HE commanded the Tibetan people not to fight for their own freedom and liberty.

Today the Tibetan people are vanishing, replaced by immigrant Chinese.

For this reason the Dalai Lama knows what he is talking about.

Yes Obama must champion freedom and liberty, but he will not. Bush championed freedom and liberty, and liberated 50 million Iraqi's, an accomplishment that Obama to this day has refused to acknowledge.

Why?

Simple. Obama has NO intention of championing freedom and liberty.

And the Dalai Lama is right to publicly remind Obama.I hope he keeps doing so.I think the Dalai Lama should hit Obama with his shoe , if he has to.

But Obama is so treasonous to American freedom, that I doubt even the Dalai Lama could turn him.

Not delusional. He knows exactly what Obama is about, but this is about as nasty as the Dali ever gets.

Agreed, he knows what a leftist believes but urges liberty anyway.
