Skip to comments.Va. Couple Wounded In Machete Attack
Posted on 10/10/2009 8:03:26 AM PDT by La Lydia
It was shortly after midnight, and the Fairfax County couple were fast asleep in their quiet Oak Hill neighborhood. That's when three shadowy figures suddenly began pummeling them -- and one was wielding a machete. The beating became bloody. Then the silent home invaders left. That's when the homeowner screaming for help out the window of his second-floor master bedroom sparked calls to 911, and then an intense police investigation that resulted in the arrests of two men and the ongoing search for a third, Fairfax police said Friday.
Police think that the couple's 23-year-old daughter complained to some friends after fighting with her parents. But they do not think she knew that her friends would burst into the brick colonial home on Cinnamon Oaks Court near West Ox Road and attack her parents...
The victims "sustained serious injuries . . . head and upper-body trauma," although they were not life-threatening, said a Fairfax police spokeswoman...
Because the victims weren't fatally wounded by the machete, investigators surmised that the attackers did not intend to kill them. Police do not think the invasion was gang-related.
Three Herndon men were charged with malicious wounding in the attack. Rolando Miranda-Perez, 18, of the 1000 block of Saber Lane, and Noe Eli Alvarado-Chopin, 22, of the 13300 block of Parcher Avenue, were arrested Thursday and are being held in the Fairfax jail without bond. A third suspect, Raul Antonio Aleman Argueta, 20, of the 13300 block of Parcher Avenue, was at large...
Gang-related machete attacks in Northern Virginia, involving gang members assaulting those from rival gangs, have been characterized by hacking off victims' fingers...

machete attack ping
A firearm by the bed would have helped.
At least they are still alive, unlike that woman in NH who also was slashed with a machete. Is this getting to be a weapon of choice for young scumbags??
the use of sugar cane and banana choppers is kind of a tipoff
Lock and Load time
Keep saying that.
Rinse and repeat.
“Because the victims weren’t fatally wounded by the machete, investigators surmised that the attackers did not intend to kill them.”
Great...detectives slash psychiatrists slash social workers equals victims slashed...
I think you've encapsulated our current condition perfectly.
And my family thinks I am nutsd for shopping around for a shotgun...
I will never understand why the good people of the Commonwealth put up with this. This needs to become issue numero uno in the governors race there. It is time for a citizens march on Richmond. Imagine the site of 20k citizens marching to the capital with machetes...
The arguement was probably caused when the victims didn’t want their 23 yo daughter hanging out with these Hombritos.
And a door chime. Waking up being beaten is the wrong time to find out you need a gun.
Getting to be? They are all over the place. There have been countless machete attacks in Northern Virginia over the past several years, some involving murder, some involving severed limbs and digits. There is a large mall in Springfield, close to where this happened, where there have been machete fights/assaults in the parking lot.
Machete = Mara Salvatrucha. This is in northern Virginia, where there is a high concentration. Still waiting for a remake of The Warriors ending at the Tyson’s Corner mall.
I am sure that makes them feel better, after being attacked with a machete, to be told by police that there was no intent to kill them!
“Jennings said that because the attack was not a random invasion but an apparently targeted assault, details were not publicized because “no public safety issue was involved” and because police wanted to quickly capture the suspects.”
Not gang-related my foot. This sounds to me like someone wanted to send these poor folks a “message”. It would be interesting to know if the couple owns a neighborhood business or the like (i.e. being targeted for shakedown/refusing to pay protection money, etc.)
Bang Bang Bang
There, fixed it.
Life in prison or death for home invasion...
Northern Virginia, where I live, is overrun with these people, who are nearly all illegals who came here from Central American and have been granted “temporary special status” to stay, despite the fact they are known criminals. That status is only until they can be amnestied.
Not in this case.
A relative just bought the Taurus Judge for home defense; has a couple of young children and wife at home. The 410 shotshells or .45 Colt will handle most “issues”.
“I am sure that makes them feel better, after being attacked with a machete, to be told by police that there was no intent to kill them!”
Yeah, especially when the attack was from a group notorious for bloody attacks with machetes. I keep one next to the front door for nuisance patrol, if I want someone (usually Greenpeace or such) away from the door I just pick it up and head out like I’m going to the garden...they tend to leave pretty quick...used it for cutting palm fronds and one day walked into the back yard and saw the gardener with one and thought “hmmmmmm...kinda scary looking”...so I got that going for me...
Saber Lane. Gotta love synchronicity.
"If you make machetes illegal, then only illegals will have machetes."
Investigators think that all three attackers were armed but that one wielded a machete and the others used blunt instruments, possibly baseball bats. Because the victims weren't fatally wounded by the machete, investigators surmised that the attackers did not intend to kill them.
If you break into my house in the middle of the night, you are guilty. That’s the verdict of Judge Mossberg, with pistol grip.
We willingly import a perpetually violent underclass that kills thousands of our fellow citizens every year because “they work cheap” and we don’t have the stomach for border enforcement because we don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings.
Where do you obtain them? I think I need one. It would coordinate nicely with my lovely wittle Glock.
If they are illegals it’s Bush’s fault for not really protecting Americans from terrorists.
It’s all Bush’s fault, including the Nobel Prize thingy.
Here is something to get you laughing.
I had seen that before. What does it have to do with machete attacks in suburbia?
Was he read his own rights?
"Noe Eli Avarado CHOPIN...."
Machete-wielder with an apropos last name.
Yep, the synchronicity is sharply obvious.
I was trying to brighten up your day.
Thank you. My day will brighten up as soon as I get my own machete.
Three Herndon men were charged with malicious wounding in the attack.
Its impressive police work (or bad journalism) when an arrest is made between the first and fifth paragraph.
Remember, don’t bring a machete to a gun fight.
LOL...that would be a funny movie. Only the obstacles the Warriors would have to face would be rush hour traffic on 495, fallen trees on Chain Bridge Road, a metro accident on the blue line and a motorcade with some VIP blocking their escape route.
A large dog is an important part of any good security system. The dog can be killed, but provides both an alarm and enough time to arm yourself.
Got mine from the gardener...but I think you can get them at garden shops.
Machetes are a trademark of MS-13, but since the whole Hispanic culture traditionally uses them to cut lots of things, any Hispanic gang might use them. They are quiet, don’t leave brass, and are terrifying. They use them to send a message.
Bang Bang Bang--------------Dead perps.
The daughter probably let them in.
If one guy has a machete in his hand and his opponent’s gun is holstered, and he is within 15 feet, bet on the guy with the machete... He’s probably gonna get in at least one good whack before the other guy pulls the gun. With a machete, that’s all takes.
