It was shortly after midnight, and the Fairfax County couple were fast asleep in their quiet Oak Hill neighborhood. That's when three shadowy figures suddenly began pummeling them -- and one was wielding a machete. The beating became bloody. Then the silent home invaders left. That's when the homeowner screaming for help out the window of his second-floor master bedroom sparked calls to 911, and then an intense police investigation that resulted in the arrests of two men and the ongoing search for a third, Fairfax police said Friday.
Police think that the couple's 23-year-old daughter complained to some friends after fighting with her parents. But they do not think she knew that her friends would burst into the brick colonial home on Cinnamon Oaks Court near West Ox Road and attack her parents...
The victims "sustained serious injuries . . . head and upper-body trauma," although they were not life-threatening, said a Fairfax police spokeswoman...
Because the victims weren't fatally wounded by the machete, investigators surmised that the attackers did not intend to kill them. Police do not think the invasion was gang-related.
Three Herndon men were charged with malicious wounding in the attack. Rolando Miranda-Perez, 18, of the 1000 block of Saber Lane, and Noe Eli Alvarado-Chopin, 22, of the 13300 block of Parcher Avenue, were arrested Thursday and are being held in the Fairfax jail without bond. I will never understand why the good people of the Commonwealth put up with this. This needs to become issue numero uno in the governors race there. It is time for a citizens march on Richmond. Imagine the site of 20k citizens marching to the capital with machetes...
The arguement was probably caused when the victims didn’t want their 23 yo daughter hanging out with these Hombritos.

Getting to be? They are all over the place. There have been countless machete attacks in Northern Virginia over the past several years, some involving murder, some involving severed limbs and digits. There is a large mall in Springfield, close to where this happened, where there have been machete fights/assaults in the parking lot.
Machete = Mara Salvatrucha. This is in northern Virginia, where there is a high concentration. Still waiting for a remake of The Warriors ending at the Tyson’s Corner mall.
I am sure that makes them feel better, after being attacked with a machete, to be told by police that there was no intent to kill them!

Not gang-related my foot. This sounds to me like someone wanted to send these poor folks a “message”. It would be interesting to know if the couple owns a neighborhood business or the like (i.e. being targeted for shakedown/refusing to pay protection money, etc.)

Northern Virginia, where I live, is overrun with these people, who are nearly all illegals who came here from Central American and have been granted “temporary special status” to stay, despite the fact they are known criminals. That status is only until they can be amnestied.

Yeah, especially when the attack was from a group notorious for bloody attacks with machetes. I keep one next to the front door for nuisance patrol, if I want someone (usually Greenpeace or such) away from the door I just pick it up and head out like I’m going to the garden...they tend to leave pretty quick...used it for cutting palm fronds and one day walked into the back yard and saw the gardener with one and thought “hmmmmmm...kinda scary looking”...so I got that going for me...

LOL...that would be a funny movie. Only the obstacles the Warriors would have to face would be rush hour traffic on 495, fallen trees on Chain Bridge Road, a metro accident on the blue line and a motorcade with some VIP blocking their escape route.
A large dog is an important part of any good security system. The dog can be killed, but provides both an alarm and enough time to arm yourself.

Machetes are a trademark of MS-13, but since the whole Hispanic culture traditionally uses them to cut lots of things, any Hispanic gang might use them. They are quiet, don’t leave brass, and are terrifying. They use them to send a message.

If one guy has a machete in his hand and his opponent’s gun is holstered, and he is within 15 feet, bet on the guy with the machete... He’s probably gonna get in at least one good whack before the other guy pulls the gun. With a machete, that’s all takes.
