FOX Entertainment to Air "Docu-Fiction" on ACORN

"The Truth" Will be absent as Leading Journalists and Politicians Acknowledge FOX Bias in Reporting and Programming.

With its attempted, often successful, agenda setting, the American right and its media echo chambers (led by Fox) have spent years targeting organizations that advocate on behalf of low-income and minority Americans. ACORN, as the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income people Americans, has been the target of choice.

Tonight at 9:00 PM EST, Fox will be airing what it calls: "Fox News Reporting: The Truth about ACORN." Although Fox did ask that ACORN participate in tonight's entertainment piece, they refused to provide assurances (such as that ACORN's written statement wouldn't be excessively edited) that ACORN's contributions would not be altered beyond recognition, as has been commonplace with Fox coverage of ACORN. Without such assurance, ACORN refused to participate.

Fox's biases are well-known and ACORN is not the first organization to refuse requests to participate in Fox programming:

* Writing for the Los Angeles Times, Republican and conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg indicated his belief that Fox News was rightward-leaning: "Look, I think liberals have reasonable gripes with Fox News. It does lean to the right, primarily in its opinion programming but also in its story selection…"

* CNN's Larry King said in a January 17, 2007 interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, "They're a Republican brand…."

* Progressive media watch groups such as the Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) and Media Matters for America have said that Fox News reporting contains conservative editorializing within news stories. Others have referred to the network as "Faux News", "GOP-TV", "Fox Noise Channel", "Fox Nothing Channel", "Fixed News" and "Cluster Fox."

* Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean has referred to Fox News as a "right-wing propaganda machine"…and several Democratic Party politicians have boycotted events hosted or sponsored by the network.

* In 2007, several major Democratic Party presidential candidates (Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, Barack Obama, and Bill Richardson) boycotted or dropped out of Fox News-sponsored or hosted debates, forcing their cancellation.

* The Nevada State Democratic Party had originally agreed to co-host a Democratic debate with Fox News Channel in Reno, Nevada….However, after Fox News chairman Roger Ailes was quoted making a joke involving the similarity of Barack Obama's name to that of the terrorist Osama bin Laden, a firestorm of opposition arose in Democratic circles… [and] the party announced it had pulled out of the debate, effectively cancelling it.

A blogger who signed up yesterday on Topix could've done a better job than this article. Fox is biased because Howard Dean and Media Matters says so?

An assertion is made in the headline that is not supported in the article. What fiction?

Then David Brock's Media Matters is provide as a source for proving bias. Real persuasive.

What’s really going to piss off the left is when some other enterprising organization/individual starts salivating at Fox’s ratings and decides they need a piece of that pie. I expect another right-leaning cable news channel, or, perhaps, dare we say it—CNN or MSNBC flips the coin...?

Personally I can't understand why they haven't already. They can claim integrity but that's obviously false. For that matter, where are their stockholders? If I were a stockholder I would be raising a half dozen different brands of hell over the fact that they aren't making any money.

This Sunday Fox news, is going to air a very important documentary about Barack Obama, Sunday night at 9 PM Eastern.

The report will go back to Obama’s earlier days, showing even then his close ties to radical Marxist professors, friends, spiritual advisers, etc. It will also reveal detail his ties to Rev. Wright for 20+ yrs. ....how he was participating with this man, and not for the reasons he states!

The report has uncovered more of Obama’s radical past, and we will see things that no one in the media is willing to put out there. It will be a segment to remember.

Mark your calendar and pass this on to everyone you know: Sunday night, 8 PM. CT; 9 PM ET. Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR country is being sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism.

If you care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to everyone you know.

This is a fuller quote from March of 2007:

Look, I think liberals have reasonable gripes with Fox News. It does lean to the right, primarily in its opinion programming but also in its story selection (which is fine by me) and elsewhere. But it’s worth remembering that Fox is less a bastion of ideological conservatism and more a populist, tabloidy network. It often does very good hard journalism, but it gets mixed up with a lot of other stuff, and the Fox-haters are hardly inclined to be discriminating viewers when it comes to separating the wheat from the pure, concentrated evil. And while few liberals have a problem with the editorializing of MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews, they think it’s just plain wrong for conservatives to play that game.

Fox’s biggest critics don’t appreciate why Fox News exists in the first place. It was created because vast numbers of Americans — including many Democratic voters — saw the mainstream media as too liberal and too elitist. Proof that Fox’s creators were right can be found in its enormous ratings success.

Translated into English....Fox is going to expose us yet again as the corrupt, morally bankrupt shysters we are. Please do not watch this program.

Sincerely, ACORN

I’ve heard one liberal say that FOX News exists to fill a void in the media. Calling FOX News and it’s viewers aren’t “gripes”, it’s childishness.

But Fox will stay compeltely away from the birth issue, won’t they? Of course they will. Obama not being a citizen is a major issue that could turn this country upside down and they are making a killing by being the corporation that gets to report on him.

It used to be when regular folks uncovered corruption they were called ‘whistle blowers.’ But, for some, that only applies to right-wing corruption. ACORN has been exposed by FOX and some common folks. This is NEWS in the same way ‘Tricky Dick’ was News. It’s that simple.

What’s the saying? If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Well, if you’re against exposing a corrupt organization that has tentacles in all 50 states, then dude, you’re part of the problem

Or....maybe a billionaire (like Philip Anschutz) on OUR side might consider buying a media outlet for the right-wing. Let’s see...that would make two out of how many left-wing propaganda outlets?

Have you noticed the cutsey commercials with the ‘feel good’ messages, like give encouragement to kids (kid sneaks up to play piano before concert, parents freak out, pianist accompanies kid, everyone applauds, all is well). I wrongly assumed there was a liberal outfit behind them since it seemed like something liberals would do. Never ass-u-me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Foundation_for_a_Better_Life
