Cause of explosion at Syracuse Islamic school still undetermined

Syracuse, NY -- Syracuse fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of an explosion Thursday at the Ihsan School of Excellence, a private Islamic school on West Onondaga Street.

More meetings with investigators are planned before a determination is made, Lt. Joe Galloway, a Syracuse fire investigator, said today.

A cause for the explosion in the school's basement will possibly be released on Monday, Galloway said.

It was too early to determine if the explosion was intentionally set, authorities said.
“It would be crazy for me to say what happened here right now,” said fire investigator Joe Galloway. “We’re doing a very thorough investigation.””

SNIPPET: “The Ihsan School of Excellence, on West Onondaga Street, was filled with natural gas and a dust cloud formed after the explosion, authorities said. The blast occurred in an unused portion of the basement, school officials said.”

SNIPPET: “The school building will be closed until the investigation is over and the damage is repaired. School officials are looking for other places to hold classes if that takes too long.”

A friend of mine lives close to a huge “islamic center”. he said that the place is always packed and that if it ever looks deserted then he knows something big is about to go down.

Like the Reeses Peanut Butter cup commercial, one ‘student’ was heard to exclaim, ‘You got your fertilizer in my peroxide, Achmed.’

‘No,’ came the reply, ‘You got your peroxide in my fertilizer, Hamid, and may the fleas of thousand camels infest your armpits.’

Upon realization of what happened the students ran outside, narrowly missing the impact of the blast. ‘Inshallah,’ they shrugged.

My guess is all investigators have to present their evidence, put it together as a package and write up the report. The next step is the press release, if any.

Since this was a school incident; I’m sure there will be a press release which will state the investigator’s determination.

Until then, all is just speculative-opinion by non-investigators.

I was thinking the same things. My vote goes for “improper storage of combustible materials.”

As to the increase in ‘near misses,’ consider the increase in talk of either the US or Israel bombing Iran. Our jihadis have already promised an intifada here if that happens. Mosques the world over are used for weapons stockpiling and as FOBs.

it's October, start of the heating season. Dummies probably did not have their furnace inspected or cleaned and so it blew up. OTOH if the blast occurred in an unused part of the basement, the fact that it is unused means that no one checked pipes there for corrosion or whatever.

I hope they enjoyed experiencing being "blown up" just like they enjoy blowing up We The People and their properties.

I wonder if authorities are keeping an eye on the ‘school of excellence’ here in the Cleveland area. Imam Fawaz Damra was convicted and deported in 2007. The bookmarked links have since been wiped by the Plain Dealer, but there were lots and lots of hidden things going on. If this is determined to be something of concern I would be looking at a Hamas-Damra link. He was deported to the Palestinian West Bank.
