Obama's Speech at HRC Dinner (Gay writers bash Obama as empty talk)
TheStranger (Seattle) ^ | Oct 10, 2009 | Dan Savage

a friend has been sending me ecstatic emails about the speech. I just watched it—the speech is every bit as good as the ones candidate Obama gave, as the performance candidate Obama delivered at the HRC/Logo Democratic Primary Debate, as the open letter to the LGBT community that candidate Obama released before last November's election. Imagine all the wonderful things this guy is going to accomplish if he ever actually gets elected president.

In other words: sorry, folks, nothing new to see here. Pledges, promises, excuses. Lip service. Other reactions...

I commented on the original thread that all Obama was doing was double-talking the crowd and I wondered why the FR posters didn't see it. Obama telling them he would gladly pay them Tuesday for a hamburger today. Seems the commentators agree....

Andrew Sullivan: "This is bull****.... Again, more of a campaign speech. I've called on Congress to repeal DOMA. Does he think we're fools? He has done nothing to advance this.... His major achievement - the one thing he has actually done—is invite gay families to the Easter egg-roll.... More campaign boilerplate. This speech could have been made—and was made—a year ago."

I watched it for a few minutes. He did everything but fellate them.

The minutes I watched were nauseating. All I could think of was the Fall of The Roman Empire.

In a word, yes.

Empty talk and empty suit kinda go together, don’t they?

Obama knows that they don’t have any place else to go- they’re going to support him regardless.

If homosexual activists don’t realize that fact, well, they are fools.

Poor fools. They elected a Marxist. Now they are disapointed that his promises are lies.

It sounds like TOTUS has been drinking, or at least having a bit of fun with its reader.

Stalin didn’t like gays, either. Unlike Stalin, however, The One can’t have his enemies exiled or executed. At least, not yet.

Don't be shocked when those on the left bash Obama.

They know him. They know they can put him on the spot. They know he will please them, America be damned.

I think Dana is married although that could be a beard situation. She is definitely NOT a Sarah Palin fan - more a romney-bot. Whatever, she’s a babe.

Andrew, just add this to the list shown on that SNL skit from last week.

BamBam is voting present.

Since Dana is a romney-bot, I could see her supporting the perverted lifestyle choice although a very wrong decision. Disappointed their lifestyle supporters are growing...

On an unrelated thread re: gramnesty supporting cap&tax, someone stated Laura Ingraham (who formerly "dated" lightshoes) is a lezbo...so ya never know these daze.

I just heard this morning that he is going to do away with the don’t ask don’t tell policy for the military. He wants gays to serve openly.

re: being pretty pro-gays in the military

That's because she's not IN the military. It's pretty tough to find someone, a non-gay, in the service that thinks it's a good, or even an OK, idea.

It's the typical Left approach to anything. It's the intent, not the outcome, that drives their fervor. Their intent is to be ‘fair’ and that's as far as their thought process goes.

With a few exceptions I think the people who actually do the work should be the ones who set the standards. The person who is putting their life on the line has every right to choose the people that will be in charge of the results.

Judge by the outcome, not the intent.
