SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has fired five short-range missiles off its east coast and declared a "no sail" zone in the area from October 10-20, South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted a government source as saying on Monday.

South Korean government officials were not immediately available for comment.

(snip)

It was not clear whether these were routine military exercises.

But they coincided with local media reports that the United States is planning to send its aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the South Korean port of Busan on Tuesday.

"It DID happen under W."

Yeah, but he didn't get a Nobel Prize for it.

“planning to send its aircraft carrier USS George Washington to the South Korean port of Busan on Tuesday.”

NK declares a “no sail” zone in what is surely only SK/Japan territorial waters around Pusan?.....absent the appeasement/sissy attitude, this would be laughable or very serious.....wonder what SK and/or Japan will have to say about this?

There were no leaks building up to this and the first we’ve heard about the no sail zone is today which indicates that whatever this is, it has come at short notice and is not pre-planned.

Could be that the NK’s are unhappy with carrier movements close to their waters as hinted at in the article but I dunno what this is about.

Worth noting that before their most recent nuclear test they also declared a no sail zone.

I don’t get it. Other than depleting his inventory, what does this buy L’il Kim? Or is his fleet trying a new twist on the old fishing-with-dynamite approach?

It DID happen under W.

And in one form or another all the way back to the Korean War. A friend of mine was killed there in about 1968. The only difference now is the North's striving to become the nuclear weapon vendor to the world's most evil.

Worst President Ever.

Carter was hard to beat for that spot but Hussein Obama has overtaken him.

God, now I remember!

It was a low day for foreign policy indeed. W seemed confused and unfocused and Kim pushed his advantage.

We appeased and got nothing but a few years of queitude — but now we have someone born to appease and weaker than W.

Kim Jung Ill wants to take advantage of the bowing and scraping at the feet of Iran — and wisely so.

Not good, not good at all.

Thanks for refreshing my memory. It is the first thing to go, ya know.

[while we are on it, FYI, I am a Conservative Republican.]

I am an independent Christian who supports godly conservatives and detest the rinos of the right and the marxists of the left, both liberals who destroyed America in their arrogance and ignorance and selfish pride.
