LAREDO, Texas -- A Texas Highway Patrol trooper found 5,408 lbs. of marijuana inside a school bus after pulling over the vehicle north of Laredo, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said.
The driver fled on foot from the scene. The bus was marked to resemble a United Independent School District bus. DPS officials estimate the marijuana is worth more than $1.7 million.
DPS continues to investigate leads in the case.

If the troopers shot the man, they would probably be put in jail like the innocent border agents who shot a mexican drug dealer and spent two years in jail under the rino George Bush.

According to troopers, they suspected something fishy about the bus from the water paint images drawn on the windows of little school boys and girls.

No, here in Texas there have been several school bus busts. However, in this exact location there was another recently.

Plus, if he wasn’t posing an immediate threat I imagine it is against the rules to shoot him.

Depends on the circumstances. It appears this is one HiPo who probably didn’t know exactly what he was about to find.
Just speculating, if the cop came to the door of the bus and the guy barreled out the door and knocked over the officer he probably could have escaped pretty easily. I imagine the desire to not go to jail behind that much weed can make you pretty fast. Had there been even two officers present it would have been much harder to escape.
I am SO glad that janet is watching our southern border. If this isn’t brazen, I don’t know what is. 2 1/2 + TONS of marijuana.
When I was a kid, it was rumored that the ice cream trucks were a good source of weed.
The war on pot is stupid.
That’s easy. The cops were too busy loading the of 5,000 pounds of weed that didn’t get reported in the backs of the pickup trucks they forfeited from innocent grandmothers. How can you steal evidence and chase a suspect at the same time?
Could be, though judging by the number of people thus far, there has to be more than one by now...
