Not suprisingly, that’s the photo Wikipedia uses in the entry for “dork.”

Wexler also had a very strange event in the past few months.Strange in that it happened while Obama was in Ghana and the Secret Service got involved. Very curious that now he is ‘resigning’.

(snip)

The Sun Sentential reports Florida Congressman Robert Wexler Targeted in Identity Theft Extortion

Extortionist from Ghana threatened to turn over congressman’s Social Security number to thieves. Other members of Congress also said to be targeted.

The alleged extortionist has been arrested and remains in custody in Ghana.

Wexler, D-Boca Raton, refused reported the plot to the Secret Service and Capitol Police.

His attorney Pamela J. Marple, issued a statement:

“Congressman Wexler greatly appreciates the professionalism and ongoing assistance of the United States Secret Service and Capitol Police regarding a matter where he was targeted as a member of Congress and was the victim of crime involving extortion and attempted identity theft. This remains an ongoing legal matter that will be closely monitored.”

The Ghanaian telephoned Wexler this month while President Barack Obama was visiting Ghana, guarded by Secret Service agents. Wexler reported the matter to the Secret Service while they were in the country, which helped the investigation.”

Wexler to leave Congress for “public policy” job, Democratic sources say
by George Bennett | October 13th, 2009

Wexler U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton, will resign from Congress to take a “public policy position,” several Democratic sources said today.

“He called. He is going to resign….He told me that he is moving on. Beyond that, I don’t have any any answers,” said state Sen. Jeremy Ring, D-Coral Springs. Ring said he is considering running in the special election to replace Wexler.

Another Wexler confidant, Palm Beach County Commissioner Burt Aaronson, said he talked to Wexler this afternoon and Wexler “said he had to do what he had to do for his family.” Wexler didn’t specifically say he would resign, Aaronson said, but by “putting two and two together” he concluded Wexler is leaving office.

Another Democratic insider said Wexler is considering a position related to Middle East policy. It wasn’t immediately clear if the post was inside or outside government.

Wexler’s office would not comment, but said the seven-term congressman would discuss his future plans with reporters Wednesday morning in Boca Raton.

If Wexler leaves before the end of his term, a special election would fill his overwhelmingly Democratic Palm Beach-Broward seat. In addition to Ring, potential candidates to replace Wexler include state Sen. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel and former Broward County Commissioner Ben Graber.

“I spoke to Congressman Wexler today but Congressman Wexler’s been a leader of our community for 20 years and I think we deserve to let him speak for himself tomorrow,” Deutch said.

Wexler was a key early supporter of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, endorsing Obama in early 2007 when most of the Florida Democratic establishment backed Hillary Clinton for president. From the moment Obama was elected, rumors swirled that Wexler might be in line for an appointment in the Obama administration.

Wexler downplayed such talk in November, saying he wasn’t interested in leaving Congress.

“I have a dream job. A job I love. I could not be happier. And I am not looking for any change in that regard,” Wexler said at the time.

Self-described “fire-breathing liberal” Wexler was elected in 1996 and has not faced a serious reelection challenge since. Even last year, after his residency became an issue — Wexler lives with his family in Maryland and was using his in-laws’ address to establish Florida residency — Wexler won a seventh term with 66.2 percent.

WIKIPEDIA:

. . . In July 2008, Fox news host Bill O’Reilly revealed that Wexler claims his mother-in-law’s home in Delray Beach as his official residence (though he is listed on the House roll as “D-Boca Raton”), but lives in a Maryland suburb for most of the year. Edward J. Lynch, a Republican running for Wexler’s congressional seat, has been researching Wexler’s living arrangements and took his argument to the Fox News program. “The house he lists on his voter registration is his in-laws’ house, in a gated 55-and-older community,” Lynch said. “Legally, he can't move back with children under 18.” After Wexler was confronted about the allegation, he stated that his mother-in-law does own the house in Delray Beach. But he also said he stays there when in Florida which, according to his office is, on average, about twice a month. As a Florida resident, Wexler does not pay personal income tax, and his vehicles are also registered in that state, despite his near-permanent residency in the Washington metropolitan area.[8]. This situation is very similar to that of Republican Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey, who claims an apartment near Trenton as his official residence while living in Northern Virginia for most of the year.[9]

Wexler, born in 1961, also does not personally meet the age requirements for his mother-in-law’s 55-and-older community. . .

Read my post #48. More info. It happened while Obama was in Ghana curiously enough and the Secret Service got involved. Something doesn’t smell right with this story..of course nothing is what it seems with the rats. Wexler is a scumbag and you can bet that something is about to break or he would not be ‘stepping down’. Perhaps he is the one that started the false rumors about Rush...lol.

Shocking news. We have no chance of winning the district, though.

a man is being held in the West African nation of Ghana after attempting to extort money from U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler.

You don't suppose the moron was stupid enough to answer one of those African scam e-mails...

Dear kindest Christian Sir:

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Obumanga Bigamuta, estranged son of the late Cowabunga Bigamuta, deposed ruler of Nairobi. I need your help to recover my father's fortune.....

he actually had senior citizen voters coming up to him “crying in the parking lot” because they feared that they might have cast their vote for Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore

Not the infamous Floriduh voters.

He is a hard core leftisit, but not ideologically...just opportunistically.

Not so hard core if he's not ideological, but merely opportunistic. I've seen this guy on TV hundreds of times and he comes off very biligerent and lacking in the mental capacity to form a substantive argument.

But i think we're approaching the point of critical mass and that is when we'll see and hear people saying things they never would say before. Because they sense the danger signs building up under Obamas administration and they are smart enough to not want it to happen.

IOW, my theory is that the RATS have gone along with the liberal agenda for many years, not expecting much to come out of it. Or at least not expecting their bills to turn into what they've turned into. But now they see it being put into place brick by brick every day and they know this signals the end of our country and our freedom as we know it.

What’s he hiding? Is his gay lover about to come forward? Is he going to be indicted for tax fraud? Accepting a bribe?

Or does he just realize that his constituents have had it with him?

Beat me to it. IIRC he appeared the day after the election on the Clinton News Network about the many seniors who called him AT HOME to whine they may have voted for PJB v. algore.

A simple request and okay to access his phone company records would tend to verify his allegation. That of course, never happened. The guy has no business anywhere near a position of remote responsibility.
