TSA Secure Flight Information

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is introducing Secure Flight, a program to help enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel through the use of improved watch list matching.

In accordance with this new policy, you will notice changes to our reservation process which have been made to obtain the necessary Secure Flight Passenger Data for reservations purchased beginning September 15, 2009. Please note that SFPD is not being collected from AA passengers whose tickets were issued prior to September 15, 2009, regardless of their travel date.

How will this affect you? When you purchase a reservation on AA.com or through an American Airlines Representative, you will need to provide the following information: Full Name (first name, middle name and last name, as it appears on the non-expired government-issued photo ID that you will use when traveling) Date of Birth Gender Redress Number (if applicable)* If you book/purchase your reservations through a travel agency or an online booking agent, you may be asked to provide the above information as well.

Update your AAdvantage account profile now We strongly encourage you to store the additional required Secure Flight Passenger Data in your AAdvantage account profile. Then, every time you make a reservation with us, we'll automatically populate this information for you. Additionally, to ensure your AAdvantage miles will continue to post to your account automatically, please check the name on your AAdvantage account to ensure it matches the full first and last name that will appear on your ticket.

Note that adding or deleting a middle name or initial will not affect our ability to credit miles to your account. Should you need to make adjustments to the name on your account, we're providing a one-time option to do so via AA.com. You will be required to provide both your date of birth and gender in order to update the name on your account. To update your Secure Flight Passenger Data, click 'Edit' next to your name.

Click 'Edit' next to your name to add date of birth and gender. After you store your date of birth and gender, the screen should look like this.

Not an AAdvantage member yet? Sign up now at www.aa.com/enroll. Then, select the link above to add your Secure Flight Passenger Data.

How will my information be kept private? Privacy of individuals' personal information is an integral part of the Secure Flight program. TSA will collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to conduct effective watch list matching. Additionally, personal data will be collected, used, distributed, stored and disposed of in accordance with stringent guidelines and all applicable privacy laws and regulations.

Additional questions?

Okay...anyone know what this "government issued ID" is? Is it the Passport? Or an additional ID?

The further away you can stay from doctors, lawyers, police officers and airports, the happier your life will be.

Government-speak for any photo ID from either the federal or state government - typically, driver’s license or passport. They are simply excluding things like Employee ID’s or credit cards with photo images for ID, as they are somewhat easier to fabricate. Note the “unexpired” term - this means that elderly folks can’t use their old driver’s licence, after they no longer drive and allow it to expire. The other alternative is most states issues an alternative ID, for those without a driver’s license.

A passport or driver’s licence are the two most commonly accepted government IDs, but it can be another form of identification as long as it contains your name, a photo and is issued by the federal or state government, i.e. military ID.

The key is that when this is enforced by the TSA, the name on your boarding pass must exactly match the name on the ID that you are using. In my case, my passport has FN, MN, LN and my driver’s licence has FN, MI, LN, and my military ID has FN, MI, LN and Jr. I can use any of the three, but I will have to use the one that matches the name on my boarding pass. I don’t think that my Chopper Shopper Card will work.

It’s about time that the airlines realize that the current administration wants them to go out of business, except to provide transportation for the elites. Not the peasants. For this reason, the TSA is going to keep adding stuff to convince people not to fly.

“Okay, citizen, let’s see your ID, passport, internal visa, birth certificate—the original, not a copy, fingerprints, retinal print, voice analysis, phone and credit card records, recent purchases, tax returns for the last five years, and signed proof of flight insurance and organ donation card.

“Then we will X-ray you and your luggage, swab them both looking for explosives, determine if our German shepherd likes you, confiscate all your clothing and personal effects that could be used as a weapon, make sure your bowels are empty prior to our cavity and dental search, and finally make you fill out an elaborate psychological profile to insure that you do not have any abnormal thoughts or desires other than of a sexual nature.”

Driver’s license or State issued ID.

They require this to fly but to vote you show up and vote with no ID at least here in OK until after we change that in an election to requiring picture ID.

I was forced to show my ID to check in for my last two flights, while my business partner used online check in.
I never use my MN or MI, but will start to on flights, apparently someone with my name is on the watch list. The holel in FLL mixed me up with someone living in San Francisco, so I will have to straighen that out to get credit for the stay.

Every time you fill out a form, use a different middle initial. Write them down on a list. Then you can use that list like a trace element to see who is shopping your name around.
