Rush Limbaugh is expected to be dropped from a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams, according to three NFL sources.
Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners, the sources said.
Three-quarters of the league's 32 owners would have to approve any sale to Limbaugh and his group. Earlier this week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay predicted that Limbaugh's potential bid would be met by significant opposition. Several players have also voiced their displeasure with Limbaugh's potential ownership position, and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, who is black, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh's bid.
Ultimately, the sources said, Checketts must reconfigure his group and find another investor to make his bid more viable.
Exactly when Limbaugh will be dropped is uncertain, though some familiar with the situation said it could be within the next week. It is unclear if the two sides even have spoken.

Michael Savage got canned from MS-NBC for telling a heterosexual prank caller to “drop dead (3 ways, parasites from undercooked meat, choking on a sausage, and get AIDS).
Chris Matthews just said that someone should shove a CO2 capsule in Rush's mouth and blow up his head like in the Bond films.
There exists a double standard. The Left is wholly intolerant.
The NFL can have KNOWN antisemites like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. The NFL cannot have ANOTHER PENNY of my tax money.
If no one stands up to the nonsense, lies and downright garbage being constantly spewed by those on the left, it just spreads like a cancer.
The NFL and every other organization/business ABSOLUTELY cannot afford to make these kinds of stupid, alienating decisions.

The sad part is that Rush should be talking about Health Care, Cap and Tax. All part of the plan to keep him off-message and he is falling for it, of all people. So is FOX. They are both fixated on the attention they are getting, the real messages are going down the drain. Just my opinion.
Al was once a great owner. He should have retired years ago.
I've lived in Valley Ranch for a dozen years. I want the Cowboys to do well for the sake of my family. Truthfully, I haven't really followed the Raiders for years...too depressing.
For the past ten years, the NFL has been something to fill in weekends from the World Series to the start of college hoops (go Zags!).
IMO, most of the owners reaped what they sowed when they implemented the salary cap. Teams like the Cowboys and Raiders have little or no accountability on the part of the players. They can't dump bad contracts like they used to, and the players know it.
Better organizations, such as the Giants, Steelers, and Patriots demand their players be accountable, and the results speak for themselves.
Even a conservative boycott of NFL over the coming weekend would make a helluva statement.
Heck you can be a senator even if you were a former Klu Klux Klan memeber...

As the Dimocraps used to say, the NFL should “look more like America” - limit black players to 13% of the total.
Of course he knew the usual suspects would come after him.
If there is anything to be learned about this deal it is whether the respect he, and many of us,have had for certain people in the NFL is warranted.
Frankly, if they will allow blatant lies to destroy Rush’s bid once they have had the opportunity to learn the truth and stand up for it, I wouldn’t want to put that, or any, amount of money into the organization anyway.
I love to watch professional football, but, some things are more important.
Rush has been talking about issues all week...this political attack on Rush is because he is trying to stop Hussein.
And punishment for not coddling the One because he is black.
Wherever taxpayers have funded a stadium, if a certain political view is banned, it is sort of taxation without representation in an odd way.

I doubt if the oppressed ever fight for freedom. They fight for pride and for power -- power to oppress others. The oppressed want above all to imitate their oppressors; they want to retaliate.
To most of us nothing is so invisible as an unpleasant truth. Though it is held before our eyes, pushed under our noses, rammed down our throats -- we know it not.
Those who lack the capacity to achieve much in an atmosphere of freedom will clamor for power.

Why, in a competitive business, do opposing owners have any veto power over a prospective buyer?
I know; league rules, but that is just begging the question.
It is a business, not a lodge membership. Do McDonald's franchisees get a vote on who can buy a competing franchise?

I would really like to see an in depth search of all the owners in professional football. What are THEIR history’s? Have THEY anything in THEIR lives they wouldn’t like to become public?

I think the post in the comments, at ESPN, was actually against Rush being accepted as an owner because he is a polarizing figure...implying that he is too controversial to be an owner,and would hurt the NFL by alienating people.
My thinking is that, considering the numbers of people who are sick and tired of the Left, and showed it by spending their time and money going to Washington D.C. and other gathering across the country, their worries about alienating people should be focused more on the politically correct liars instead of on Rush, who has a fan base in the millions as well.
If they don’t take a stand for what’s right instead of caving to the race baiters and political opportunists, and at least attempting to correct the ignorance concerning the matter, they may alienate more people than they realize.
You’re right. Lies spread like a cancer. All it takes to stop them is for enough people to have the courage to take a stand and tell the truth.
That’s what the Tea Party Movement demonstrated I think. Not perfection - just a hunger for what is true and honest and upright, and the courage to stand for those things.
Who among us really believes this is about football or racism - only an ignorant few, I’d say. This is political.
