Health Insurance: Renegade Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine is once again talking up a "public option" as part of a health care overhaul. But with or without it, Congress is set to wreck the U.S. medical system.
There's a sleight-of-hand game beginning in Washington now that a health bill has passed the Senate Finance Committee. It may end up bamboozling Republicans in Congress, moderate Democrats trying to block the move toward socialized medicine, and all those citizens who made a stand for freedom at tea parties and town hall meetings across America this year.
This political magician's trick consists of fooling the crowd into gazing at the entertainer's left hand, while his right hand is where the real action is happening.
After revelations from independent experts that a government-run health option would lure away tens of millions of private health insurance customers with artificially low premiums, wrecking the industry in the process, the idea was pronounced dead.
But Olympia Snowe, who has the dubious distinction of being the only Republican to vote for the Democrats' health care takeover, is resurrecting the idea.
"I want to make sure the insurance industry performs," Snowe told CBS as she revived her plan for a "public option trigger" that takes effect if private health insurers can't meet cost targets.

So what can we do to make sure that all living congress people are awake and alert?
From voter fraud to manipulation of _____________ to totalitarian control.
I can’t believe that Olympia Snowe is comfortable becoming the Benedict Arnold of the 21st century. She will make the history books on this one, but not the way she thinks. It will be a very long time before the American people forgive her. I hope she got a sweet deal for selling out her country.
You should not be surprised by this. I read today that Susan Collins will also vote with the rats. These 2 are true RINOs. Snowe is up in 2012 for reelection. The voters of Maine absolutely send her packing in 2012. Collins unfortunately is not up until 2014
Cost targets?
What about health targets? Or don't those matter anymore?
My head is about to explode!!! How can they do this????
Vote them out, Snowe in 2012 and Collins in 2014. Let them know enough is enough
What are the people in her state doing? Do they agree? Has there been a backlash?
Maine is a welfare state. Snowe and Collins may be the last two ‘republicans’ up there.
I am not so sure they ARE republicans.
