Beau Biden Considering Senate Bid
ABC News ^ | October 15, 2009 | CHRIS CUOMO, LEE FERRAN and NOEL HARTMAN

After nearly a year-long tour in Iraq, Vice President Joe Biden's son, Joe "Beau" Biden III, said he is "absolutely" considering a run for the Senate seat his father occupied for 36 years. "I'll be making the decision in due course," Biden, 40, told "Good Morning America" today in his first television interview since his return to Delaware last month amid speculation that he would make a bid for the seat.

One of a handful of elected officials to serve in Iraq since the U.S. led invasion in 2003, Biden took a leave of absence from his job as Delaware's attorney general to join his unit as a captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, or JAG.

...The recent entry by Republican Rep. Mike Castle -- Delaware's only member of the House of Representatives and a popular former governor -- has complicated the outlook for Biden and transformed what was once seen as a safe Democratic seat into a toss-up.

ABC begins its advocacy campaign for Beau. The Bidens are having Kennedesque delusions of grandeur and hereditary right to political office.

It’s the Democrat way. Senate and Congressional seats are the property of the family who has occupied them for decades. Is anyone surprised?

Unless the economy does a big turnaround, Castle wins this. Biden will be looking at that and deciding whether to risk defeat or sit this one out. If it looks like he might lose, Dad will ask him to sit it out.

Yep...Michelle Malkin made reference to this in her book “Culture of Corruption”. Good folks of Delaware, start sharpening the knives right now and see to it that this guy never even gets near a Senate seat.

If he was all that smart, he might be considering a run for Castle’s House seat and a chance to work his way up. But by all means let’s encourage him to run and get his butt kicked by Castle. Next year will be a good year to be a Republican. Maybe that would shut Joe up for a while. But probably not.

The Biden name is really hard to beat in DE. Sort of like Kennedy in MA.

That’s the boy who arrested Larry Sinclair and threatened him with life in prison if he did not plead guilty to a made up charge. Nice work if you can get it.

It would be an embarrassment to the Administration if he ran and lost. The press would be relentless about the implications and it could threaten Biden being on the 2012 ticket. Therefore, if the calculation is that he might lose, he will invent some reason not to run.

Kinda like losing the Olympic bid. And this bunch is proud to welcome an ass like Al Franken. Plenty of weasels have lost their first bid for office and gone far.

Go JoBo!

Go JoBo!

What a fantastic name and nickname to have.

Could even expand it to “Go JoBo III!”

Definitely not. If lying that his first wife's death was caused by a truck driver drinking his lunch instead of by her actions hasn't been enough to shut Biden up, a monumentally horrendous lie that Biden repeated for over 30 years and ruined the man's life, I can't see where his opportunistic son's Senate loss would do it.

“Today, Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner (D) appointed an aide to Vice President-elect Joe Biden (D) — Edward “Ted” Kaufman — to fill the Biden’s Senate seat until a 2010 special election.

The move suggests that Kaufman will act as a placeholder so that Biden’s son Beau — the current state attorney general — can succeed his father. Biden is currently in Iraq with the Delaware National Guard and has said that he would not leave the military before his year-long tour was completed.”

Is anyone surprised ?

"Suggests" Kaufman will act as placeholder? More than a suggestion. See:
