Wingnut + Email + Threat to President = Arrest

Repeat email-threat offender apprehended after threatening president and his family

Late last month, Crescent City's John Gimble sent an email describing his plan to brutally murder President Barack Obama's wife and children before finishing with the president himself and then desecrating the corpse with a felt tip marker.

On Tuesday, after an investigation by the Secret Service, Gimble was indicted for threatening the president and is currently in custody.

Authorities have not revealed to whom the email was sent, but if it was president@whitehouse.gov, man, how colossally stupid would that have been?

Then again, Gimble has a history of collossaly stupid behavior, from leaving vulgar messages on a Del Norte County sherriff's answering machine to calling for a posse to hunt down and kill Crescent City's police chief. Over a citation for a broken taillight and a five dollar parking ticket, respectively.

"He probably could stand to benefit from some therapy," quipped attorney John Vrieze, who represented the county in the two previous cases, to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Felt tip marker? Now that’s a bit much.

Okay, this guy is completely nutterbutter. Lock him a padded cell and keep him away from, well, everyone.

And don’t let him have any markers.

I really don’t think all this is going to end well. As Obummer angers more and more people I worry about the idiot out there somewhere who isn’t saying anything, just plotting, plotting, plotting!

Why does the title say “wingnut?” I don’t get the impression from this that this guy was politically motivated.

Probably the early spin - the guy’s threatening Obama, so he must be a right-winger, yadda, yadda.

Personally, I see no immediate evidence of anything but that the guy is completely friggin’ nuts.

From the Del Norte Triplicate
http://www.triplicate.com/20091008107156/News/Local-News/Feds-detain-local-man-over-threat-to-Obama

“His most recent arrest was for contempt of court and making annoying telephone calls,” Wilson said of Gimball. “He calls my office on average once a week or more. He contacts us and leaves lots of threatening messages.”

Wilson said the Secret Service had picked up Gimball before on suspicion of making threats toward former President George W. Bush.

“The feds have been here several times for Mr. Gimball under the Bush administration and under the Obama administration — he is a non-partisan offender,” said Wilson.

People are getting so nutty that it’s almost like you could make a major motion-picture about an assassination attempt on a SITTING PRESIDENT..!!

Oh, wait...
