HUFFPO PULLS FAKE LIMBAUGH QUOTES
Jawa Report ^

Posted on 10/15/2009 5:39:57 PM PDT by kristinn
Not sure if anyone has picked this up yet, but the editors at the Huffington Post have pulled the fake Limbaugh "slavery" quotes from a 2006 Jack Huberman article. Huberman's book was one of the original sources for the fake quotes, apparently picking them up from the wikipedia entry where they first appeared.
A note at the beginning of the article now states:
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this post contained quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh, which Limbaugh has since denied making. As is our policy when a fact in a blog post is called into question, we gave its author 24 hours to substantiate the quote. Since he has not been able to do so, the quotes have been deleted from the post.
So Huberman wasn't able to back it up, they pulled the quotes. That's fair enough, I guess. I wonder if the rest of the "fact-check" media will be honest enough to follow their online lead. Don't hold your breath.
The Weekly Standard reported earlier today that this might happen. HT to them.

Well, no bigs on their part. The damage is done, and the “quotes” can be stowed away for a few years until needed again.

I would guess that El Rushbo’s attnys have made their point quite well with the people at the Huffpo, and they’ve decided to make the requested corrections
I’d have preferred to have seen him sue them for everything they have.

This is like that Swedish paper that claimed that Israel was selling internal organs of Palestinians. Even though the Swedish guy admits that he isn't sure the story is true, he is touring Arab countries, getting money for his blood libel.
Now Rush Limbaugh is suffering a type of blood libel of his own.
Rush is a brother and I will pray for him.

The
AP has more:
Two of the racist quotes recently attributed to Limbaugh, which praised slavery and Martin Luther King Jr. assassin James Earl Ray, may have been falsified and then magnified in the media echo chamber.
The quotes were published in a 2006 book by Jack Huberman, "101 People Who Are Really Screwing America." Asked Thursday for the source of the quotes, Huberman said he had no comment. His publisher, Nation Books, also declined to comment.

As is our policy when a fact in a blog post is called into question, we gave its author 24 hours to substantiate the quote. So, I can post that Barack Ubama said: "Storytime with 'Uncle' Frank Davis was the most enjoyable part of my childhood because of all the fondling. He's the only person I ever truly loved," and that will stay up at that Huffpost site for 24 hours?

Keep in mind that, as a public figure, Rush would have to prove that the authors knew, or should have known, that the quote was false. Being mere lazy, inept dunces doesn’t expose them to liability where a public figure is the target of their venom.

The truth will always come out no matter how much lies and fabircations the liberal media will create. I hope that Rush Limbaugh sue these low life scums and when the jury awards him a massive amount of money then he can tell these scums OK I will not take your money but instead I want you to stand in Times square wearing a sign aorund your neck that says “We are Liberal Liars, We Lie All The Time” and then have them say this line loudly for hours. We will have all this on TV and on Youtube. It will be a glorious hour for all conservatives :)

I haven’t heard anyone else talk about this. Rush had talked about Chris Matthews saying something about putting a pellet gun in Rushes mouth and pulling the trigger. Last night I was watching Hard Ball to see if he said anything else and he was very apologetic and even called him El Rushbo! Did anyone else see or hear this? I figured that Rush’s lawyers had already been calling!

By causing him measurable and demonstrable economic harm, Rush is now able to prevail in court if he decides to pursue either a libel or slander civil suit against his lying defaming detractors. As a public figure it is often hard to win such a suit absent economic impact.
They may have played into his hands with their big lying mouths.

Swedish blood libel against the JewsThis is the story I mentioned with Rush and the phony racist remarks. And now Rush Limbaugh is to be treated like a Jew? Even when a story is false it is still regarded as true? Tis a horrible and evil state of affairs.
