Free Republic establishes alliance with the "Restore the Constitution" effort
FreeRepublic Alliance Links ^ | October 17, 2009 | Jeff Head

Posted on 10/17/2009 9:46:24 AM PDT by Jeff Head

We are pleased to announce that FreeRepublic and Jim Robinson have established an Alliance Link to the Restore the Constitution effort, The Independent Movement for Constitutional Restoration (IAM-CR).

The premise for IAM-CR is simple:

We intend to amass a voting block of millions of Americans who are sworn to focus on Constitutional Principle first and foremost in their voting and who will vote for and elect the thousands of candidatires we find and enlist who are sworn to support fundamental Constitutional Principle.

We invite all members of FreeRepublic to review our twelve constitutional principles and then JOIN US and invite your family, friends, and neighbors to do likewise as we build this voting block all over the nation and attract candidates to us, or develop them from our own ranks at all levels of government.

Please review the list of candidates we have already attracted, who have sworn or affirmed that they will support those same principles and do all in their power to support and inact them in law if elected.

IAM-CR is not a political party or a PAC. It seeks no donations, fees, dues, or other funds. It only seeks the commitment to constitutional principle of its members and candidates from whatever persuasion.

All of the public demonstrations are good, and critical in showing the opposition the strength, determination, and numbers of those Americans who are awakening to the destruction of our Republic by abject socialists and marxists in our own government. IAM-CR does, and will will link to and promote those FreeRepublic, 912Project, TeaParty and other events directed to this end.

But until we actually elect candidates at all levels of government committed to the constitution and who swear to abide its fundamental principles...nothing will change.

That restoration of our Constitutional Republic, based on fundamental constitutional principle is what this effort is about...that is what FreeRepublic is all about...the largest and most effective site for conservative activism and news on the intenet. Jim Robinson's foresight and dedicated efforts over many years must be recognized for making that so, and we sincerely thank him and all those involved with FreeRepublic for that work, and for forming this alliance with our efforts in support of those same goals.

In this regard, our alliance could not be more natural.

In fact, IAM-CR was created by several long-time and well known freepers and a couple of other well-known patriots. Jeff Head (freeper Jeff Head), Neil E Wright (freeper Neil E. Wright), David C, Wright (freeper dcwusmc), Ward Dorrity (freeper noumenon), Matthew Bracken (freeper Travis McGee), Pastor Stephen Broden (seen often on Fox News, Glenn Beck, and Hannity, and who is himself one of our candidates for the US Congress), and David Hedrick (the disabled US marine who stood up to his congressman at the town hall in Washington state and who is also one of our candidates for US Congress) are all on the Advisory Board of this effort.

Please JOIN US and help us use the political process and our voting rights to rise up and take our country back and restore our constitutional republic.

You are welcome freekitty. Please spread the word...the more people we have involved, in each and every district around this country, the more impact we will have as we elect stong constitutional candidates to office at all levels.

I agree 100%. Law abiding does not mean that you have never committed a crime. It means you have served the time and paid for your crime and are once again abiding the law. Convicts are not permitted to own weapons and carry them while incarcerated. That is all this wording implies.

Jeff, you and the others are good people but I’ve never understood this “Restore the Constitution” movement. What’s Constitutional is whatever the Supreme Court says it is. If you want to restore things that you beleive have been lost it can only be done 2 ways;

1. File federal lawsuits to get the SC to review, and hopefully decide in your favor, issues of unconstitutionality.

2. For #1 to work you need to make sure a person sympathetic to your opinions sits in the White House and elects judges of such nature.

Most of the public is oblivious to the true meaning of the contitution and always will be because they’re lazy and don’t care. Of course I understand that part of your program is to educate people but IMO you will never reach a success rate that could precipitate a large enough constitutional epiphany among the people to bring about the change that you desire.

Backing constitution enabled politicians is good but they will always be elected based on their positions on at least a dozen issues more important to the voters, bread and butter, taxes, abortion, etc.

I see the inherent value in your efforts but I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes we waste a lot of good time, effot on money doing things that we like rather than things that could be most successful. Unfortunately I went down that path.

The only way to restore the Constitution is to clean out Washington DC.

Bob, getting people elected at all levels of government, who are committed to fundamental constitutional principle will turn this around...from the school board, county, city, state legislature, congresds and Predient. That includes a lot of judges, sheriffs, etc. who are elected.

If we get a large enough block of voters insisting on this course of action...then the people at the state and national level who select judges will ultimately be constitutionally oriented and put in place those people who do have the right mind set.

It will take time...it took time to get where we are.

I also believe that we can turn the majority of citizens in this country to basing their voting decisions on constitutional principles as well, and not be side tracked by politicians promising bread and butter, non-constitutional solutions. That is the entire premise to the effort.

If we can, then over time we will restore constitutional principle, limited government, personal responsibility, and free marker principle to our nation.

I have no elsusion that this will be an ongoing, long term process. But it is precisely the process (IMHO) we need to elect good people to office.

Exactly...and we can start on that now, but alos, equally importantly, fill our local and state offices with constitutionally oriented people as well so we have the base to build the DC crowd on, and maintain it for the long term. That is what this effort is also geared towards.

I strongly suggest that any candidate endorsed be required to sign a “hardass” clause. This is because Washington, D.C. has evolved a powerful system to both coerce and bribe elected officeholders to abandon their most cherished beliefs and embrace the system.

Which, in Biblical terms was called “Selling your birthright for a mess of pottage.”

Through any number of schemes, congressmen are persuaded to “vote against something before they vote for it”, to wheel and deal, to be offered votes in exchange for their vote, and to be threatened with negative votes unless they vote for things. Their peers, lobbyists, foreign powers, journalists, and others all strive to corrupt them.

And once they bend even a little bit, they are broken. Their failing is held over their head as blackmail, and if no failing exists, then one is fabricated out of whole cloth. Every man is their enemy.

So what is a “hardass” clause? It means that they join together, hang together, in *not* being compromised. In a basic form, it was how the Contract With America worked. Simple ideas and beliefs, held on to with the tenacity of a pit bull.

At the time, the older Republicans abhorred the CWA, being they had been so compromised that they were afraid for standing for anything. So only the freshmen congressmen joined. But it gave them the strength and the courage to make positive change.

It will take many courageous people to restore the constitution of the United States. And as with the 300 Spartans standing against the might of the Persian Empire, these people will have to stand against villainy beyond their wildest dreams.

They will have to overthrow more than a century of federal expansion and impunity. They cannot just fight it to a standstill. They must tear down the unconstitutional edifice, leaving only those parts ordained by the founders. Certainly there will be left some of those pieces, that are truly good and needed, but they must be integrated into the constitution to retain their purpose.

And only the strongest of people, the “hardasses”, can hope to accomplish this monumental task.

Actually, the notion of a formally stratified society as proposed by this group ("law-abidiing citizens" being Tier 1 and the rest Tier 2) is an intriguing and useful one. Let's construct one using the principles of this organization, and cribbing a little:
Tier 1: Full grant of ALL rights, enumerated or otherwise. This is an earned tier, available only to those of Tier 2 who have completed honorable terms of service to the state, in particular the armed forces in defense of this country. (Exceptions may be made for such as the Amish.)
Tier 2: All rights except national elections. (Cribbing from R.A. Heinlein here and Tier 1.) Must be natural-born citizens with at least one U.S. national as a birth-parent.
Tier 3: Same rights as Tier 2. Nationalized immigrants.
Tier 4: Denied 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th Amendment and all voting rights. Membership in this tier adheres to those who have ever committed any crime or misdemeanor and once a member of this tier no subsequent action may elevate one to a higher tier. (This is in accordance with many FReepers' and others' desires -- sorry about that, Mr. Colson.)
Tier 5: Right? What's a right? Baddest of the bad, scum of society. Selected out of Tier 4 by popular vote. (All sex offenders likely to wind up here.)

Stratified societies work. Just ask the Brahmins. Sucks to be a dalit, but we have to have *somebody* to stomp on. Today it's registered sex offenders, but that's not really enough. Other folks belong down there too.

Sooo... from their stated principle a whole new society.

That is all this wording implies.

Then it should say so directly. I will continue to use my interpretation as a warning to others that they might not be buying what they think they're being sold.

Of course, that's never happened before in this country. / s
