Close Encounter With Craziness (Chris Matthews vs Head of Texas Tea Party)
Powerline ^ | 10/18/2009 | JOhn Hinderaker

I think there was a time when Chris Matthews wasn't stark, raving mad, but it's hard to remember for sure. Here, he invites the head of the Texas Tea Parties on to his show, and then attacks him with a series of bizarre questions involving birtherism, etc. It turns out that what Matthews really wants to do is argue about New Deal history, of which he is evidently ignorant (he doesn't seem to understand that Hoover raised taxes). The Tea Party guy, Phllip Dennis, does an admirable job of not only maintaining his dignity but talking sense to craziness:

Jeez, how many times did Chris Spittle say we were going into a great depression? Too bad Dennis didn’t call him on that. Democrats are such drama queens...and need to be told that every chance we get.

I saw this. I was very impressed with the Texas Tea Party guy.

I considered sending the men in the white coats for Hissy.

It’s long past time for an intervention for Chrissy but my guess is he has no one in his life who cares enough.

The only regret I have is that Mr. Dennis wasn't historically knowledgeable enough to CORRECT Chris Matthew's assertion Herbert Hoover did nothing after the 1929 stock market crash.

Hoover INTERFERED with a lot of things. He RAISED TAXES and also signed the PROTECTIONIST Smoot-Hawley Act among other things. Amity Shlaes' fantastic book -- THE FORGOTTEN MAN actually detailed all the market interfering policies Hoover did.

I’ve been pondering the “stupid red neck” epithet the libs love to throw out with great superior disdain. Phillip Dennis addresed this head on. Phillip Dennis, a white Christian male, ran circles around the ignorant, racist, bigot, Chris Matthews. Christian morality is often attacked by those who are offended by it. To be moral does not equate to fast $$$$ and control and so it is mocked.

There is a big disconnect between what historians think about the Great Depression/New Deal and actual economists.

Hoover raised taxes, and more importantly, didn’t try to stop bank failures. Bank failures and deflation was the root cause of the Great Depression.

World War II did NOT end the Great Depression. During World War II, people were issued North Korean-style rationing books. The economy did not truly return to normal until President Eisenhower stared privatizing businesses.

The facts are on our side. Get educated in case you ever end up on national television.

FOLLOW UP to my previous post....( just to show how ignorant of history Chris Matthews is ( and he has the gall to refer to the Great Depression as if he knew his history )) :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Hoover

Hoover agreed to roll back previous tax cuts his Administration had effected on upper incomes. In one of the largest tax increases in American history, the Revenue Act of 1932 raised income tax on the highest incomes from 25% to 63%. The estate tax was doubled and corporate taxes were raised by almost 15%.

Also, a “check tax” was included that placed a 2-cent tax (over 30 cents in today’s dollars) on all bank checks.

Economists William D. Lastrapes and George Selgin, conclude that the check tax was “an important contributing factor to that period’s severe monetary contraction.”

Hoover also encouraged Congress to investigate the New York Stock Exchange, and this pressure resulted in various reforms.

National debt expressed as a fraction of gross national product climbs from 20% to 40% under Hoover; levels off under FDR; soars during World War II. From Historical Statistics US (1976)

For this reason, years later libertarians argued that Hoover’s economics were statist. Franklin D. Roosevelt blasted the Republican incumbent for spending and taxing too much, increasing national debt, raising tariffs and blocking trade, as well as placing millions on the dole of the government. Roosevelt attacked Hoover for “reckless and extravagant” spending, of thinking “that we ought to center control of everything in Washington as rapidly as possible,” and of leading “the greatest spending administration in peacetime in all of history.”

Roosevelt’s running mate, John Nance Garner, accused the Republican of “leading the country down the path of socialism”.

Matthews is like a commuincations major fresh out of four years of college. He wants to bring the conversation to Bush II and is doing it in a pathetically obvious and partisan way.

He is like a hack.

I think there was a time when Chris Matthews wasn't stark, raving mad, but it's hard to remember for sure>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> We all need to understand something, its quite important. Chrissy is a case in point. We need to learn a lot from him. There is a process happening which is ongoing, further radicalizing Obama supporters. We need to understand how it works, with some clarity.

Of course Chrissy is stark raving mad. He drank the kool aid, he had the tingle up his leg, he was a virgin kidnapped and spirited away, who fell in love with the purveyor of his first truly politically ecstatic/orgasmic experience. He has been "imprinted." No longer rational. We all know neighbors and relatives that the same thing has happened to.

Yet he sees the facts like we conservatives do. He still has a non dominant rational mind obscured by emotion and impulse.

So he has a large amount of Cognitive Dissonance which exists between logic and his emotion about the Obama Utopia. This leads to a very schizophrenic behaviour pattern, rational one moment and emotionally psychotic the next.

Soon he will go absolutely nuts and will face early retirement, or will go directly to work for Obama.

In short, we conservatives are getting to him, and when we do, he will morph from socialism to outright fascsism. Thats how it works. Thats how Hitler conquered the German nation. And Matthews is not alone. There are millions just like him. AND WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO WIN!!!

That drives Chrissy round the bend.

Oh yeah! We are getting to them.

This will be the pattern of all who cling to Obama, a social movement of emotional violence is being born on the anvil of Conservative opposition to the Obama Junta.Do not be afraid of them, do not fear them in their madness.Do not knuckle under to them! Much worse is yet to come before the battle is joined for America, because of this social psychosis, widely shared by those who choicelessly emote rather than think.Chrissy and those in his profession are showing the Obafaithful how to do just that, just GO OFF!!!

Yes, we are beginning to see how all of the Obama followers will be shortly, Chrissy Clones. They are like grasshoppers that are massing and turning into locusts before our very eyes.

Yes indeedy. We need to drive Chrissy and all who are like him right round the bend, and then we must have it out with them and win.If we fail, we will no longer have a Democratic Republic. It will be lost.Retrievable only through war.

And we must win, or a mindless scourge will be released upon the world.

He did a masterful job. He didn’t let Chrissy take him down into the craziness gutter. He stayed on message and most importantly, he sounded reasonable - much more reasonable - than Chrissy, who was screaming at him at times.

It’s a good thing you posted this so that the Tea Party guy could be seen by a larger audience than the 27 npeople who actually watch Miss Chrissy Matthews’ show.

Chris Matthews doesn’t like hoover because he didn’t do anything. He needs to read about the great crash of 20 and noticed what happened to that one. And why nobody has heard of it. ;)

Chrissy looked like a college communications major trying to pass his verbal finals test by trying to poke holes in the other side. But he was so overt about it that it was literlly laughable. He came across as a total goof.

I’ve only seen the guy maybe three or four times (including this time). He’s hard to take seriously. No, he’s IMPOSSIBLE to take seriously.

He reminds me of joe and is just as ignorant and irrelevant:

Someone ought to educate Matthews to the Smoot Hawley Tariff Act and the fact that President Hoover raised taxes, which is precisely the two things that Obama is doing. Obie is starting a trade war, spending like a drunken sailor and promising tax increases. Matthew’s interviews are horrendously misleading, misinformed and contrived but this Texan bettered him in this clip.

A usual Matthews motif is to declare that these Tea Partiers are ignorant of US history but it is he who is the ignoramus. Typical arrogant liberal. He likes to throw history questions in there to show his superiority when he doesn’t know the facts.

I remember watching Chris Matthews during the Clinton era. Dede Myers was always on his show too. Chris asked a lot of questions but never went off like he does now. He let his group give opinions. Maybe I did not see the rage because Clinton was in office and Chris is a dem. I was not political then at all. Carter was the only president my family suffered under financially. Clinton was just the lying scum in office who gave nuclear to China.

So Chris Matthews wanted a senate seat, right? Is he going for it or did his little exploratory committee nix the idea? What if Obama said to these new show hosts types, I have a seat for you and we will fund your campaign?

Bernie Goldberg said on foxnews there is no conspiracy in lame stream media. He said that is just how they think. Like Obama thinks. Hard to believe they would like a bankrupt America. Looking at Matthews, Schultz, Olberman, it is hard to believe there is not a pay off for that extreme lunacy.

By the way, if you watch Dede Myers and Chris Matthews, they have the same talking points.
