WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is considering all options to create jobs, including another stimulus package, while trying to pull the economy out of a deep recession and deal with a record deficit, White House advisers said Sunday.

...

"You've got this huge national deficit and we've got to do what we can to bring that down. At the same time, it's important to stimulate the economy," Jarrett said. "Let's wait and see. Let's let the recovery bill do its job."

Unemployment stands at 9.8 percent, with more than 4 million jobs lost this year. The deficit has reached $1.4 trillion and the national debt $11.9 trillion.

“Let’s wait and see. Let’s let the recovery bill do its job.”

1) This is an admission that it hasn’t worked.

2) It’s pretty late in the season to be saying “let’s wait and see.”

Try getting your damn fingers out of my wallet. Try NOT nationalising medical care. Try a reduction in taxes on capital gains, reducing corporate taxes and dropping the cap and tax scam.

I think the title of this article is wrong. It would be more accurate had they wrote: "Obama looking at all options for destroying jobs"

It is a fact that his stimulus package hasn't created many jobs, but most certainly harmed the marketplace by damaging the incentive to create jobs.

My guess is that Obama is looking to set up a jobs program- not unlike those that have been set up for youth in the inner cities over the years. They were very popular back in the 70s when I was an inner city youth.

Nothing really gets done, but “paychecks” are cut and the “workers” are kept off the street during “work” hours. Glorified welfare.

Obama would like to set up a WPA- which didn’t accomplish a whole lot considering the size of its workforce back in its day.

But unlike in the 30’s, today government construction jobs are a lot more firmly controlled by the trade unions- so most of that work is really of the table for welfare recipients.

The Democrats need to see some sort of economic recovery in the next 6 months if they want to keep Congress. If the economy starts recovering in August ‘10, it’s too late because after summer vacation, kids go back to school and football season starts and people won’t pay attention to politics at that point.

Okay, here is an idea. The government can tax my small business and take large portions of my income to redistribute or they can let me keep my earnings which I will in turn use to purchase equipment and hire people. Which do you think is going to grow grow our economy?

All options are being looked at except the one that will work (or might work if implemented a year ago).

Across-the-board tax cuts would probably have done it, but that would involve a leftist government ceding control of its population.

Can't have that.

Heck, even if it didn’t create that many jobs, if it starved the federal government back down to size, it’d be worth it.
