Ignore Fox: Obama's right. It's time to stop taking the network's skewed news seriously
Slate ^ | October 17, 2009 | Jacob Weisberg

Posted on 10/19/2009 9:50:31 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Last week, when White House communications director Anita Dunn charged the Fox News Channel with right-wing bias, Fox responded the way it always does. It denied the accusation with a straight face while proceeding to confirm it with its coverage.

Take a look at Fox's own Web story on the episode. It begins by quoting a Fox News senior vice president named Michael Clemente, who says: "It's astounding the White House cannot distinguish between news and opinion programming. It seems self-serving on their part." Then it quotes David Gergen, the gravelly voice of Washington's conventional wisdom, who says the attack diminishes President Obama and works to Fox's benefit. Then we hear from Tony Blankley, Newt Gingrich's former press secretary and a frequent Fox contributor, who agrees that criticizing Fox makes no sense: "Fox has an audience of not just conservatives. They've got liberals and moderates who watch too." Then a White House correspondent for Politico echoes the claim that the controversy will boost Fox's ratings. Then comes an old quote from Fox anchor Chris Wallace, who calls Obama's team "the biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington." Then the story's anonymous author cites a joke Obama made at the White House Correspondents Dinner as evidence "that Fox News has gotten under his skin." Finally, the piece cites a Pew study that suggested that while Fox was equally negative about John McCain and Obama during the last six weeks of the 2008 campaign, CNN was more negative about McCain.(continued)

CNN is rife with false stories - many from overseas locations - I've busted them more than once.

The "debunking" story in Indonesia was manufactured for example - I've posted details on my blog

Seems to be a big Chicagowanda connection here. Now that is objective reporting.

A skewed journalist accuses Fox of skewing the news. The funny thing is, he doesn't think his view is skewed.

Any news organization that took its responsibilities seriously would take pains to cover presidential criticism fairly....

And yet...

By appearing on Fox, reporters validate its propaganda values and help to undermine the role of legitimate news organizations. Respectable journalists—I'm talking to you, Mara Liasson—should stop appearing on its programs.

First, this cry baby pisses and moans that Fox only cites conservative sources, then he begs for others, whom he deems as respectable, not to appear on Fox! Suffering cats! STFU already.

Mr. Weisberg apparently believes that things will be better, and he will be happier when a political officer reviews all outgoing "news".

Hopefully, he won't have to find out the hard way just how tragically wrong he is.

Maleducated libtards....

as Ronald Reagan observed...”its not that our liberal friends are so ignorant, but that what so much of what they “know” simply isn’t true”

the corollary of this statement...also RR’s

“A liberal is somebody who has read Karl Marx....a conservative is somebody who UNDERSTANDS Karl Marx...”

I get the feeling that every other media outlet is jealous of Fox News getting all this attention from Obama.

What the White House is saying is:

"If FOX News breaks a story (like Acorn or Van Jones), don't pick it up and report it or do your own research on it. Then we can isolate the FNC message apparatus until we can regulate them off the air. Thanks in advance."

That’s why I watch it.

Weisberg - what a total hack:

http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2008/10/20/the-end-of-jacob-weisberg/

Of course, the Government would later prove itself that IT was responsible for the crisis, completely dissolving this moron’s screed.

And yet, Jacob remains employed. And Newsweek’s readership is at an all time low.

Liberals love their constructs.

So slate can see the splinter in FoxNews’ eye, despite having more than eight posts in it’s eye. Good to know.

Hearing the beneficiaries of ABC, CBS, CNN, CNN HLN, MSNBC, NBC, HBO, the NYTs, the WP and a myriad of other non-stop propaganda factories, whine about FoxNews just makes me want to cry them a river in sympathy.

NOT!

And we’re not just talking about news programming either. These outlets are pushing his agenda in their programming and alternate stories as well.

It’s full blown Communism with these idiots.

FoxNews is about the only network that allows someone on who hasn’t become a hex-slave to Obama.

For that it is cursed by the flying monkeys.
