WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin will sit down with Oprah Winfrey the day before her new memoir hits bookstores, Harpo announced Tuesday.

The former Alaska governor will make the appearance on Oprah on November 16 to talk about her highly anticipated tell-all, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

Palin has never before appeared on the popular daytime talk show. Last December, Winfrey said she had invited her on the show to discuss the election, but suggested at the time that Palin had instead chose other interviewers

Unconfirmed from Palin’s side.
However it’s a good thing that it is LIVE (as Oprah’s site indicates).

If this is the real thing, it’s good that Palin demanded it to be unedited.

Sarah is going to make me record an Oprah show. This makes me uncomfortable. I am going to need to apply for a variance or else risk losing my conservative man card.

Since this will be (as indicated) live, it’s a win win for Palin.

If Oprah or the audience will be disrespectful (as I expect) they will be exposed to be the classless fascist goons they are. And Palin’s responses and counterattacks will reach an enormous audience unedited.

Plus if it helps her make big bucks, I’m all for it.

Good for her. At first I thought it was a bad idea, but now I look at it and I think its a great idea. Do I like Oprah, NO, I can’t stand the woman, but I don’t think she is a bad person. She just has a different point of view. I think Sarah will do great on her show. She has to market herself to a different kind of audience. Oprah isn’t a journalist, she is an interviewer. This won’t be a gotcha interview, she will ask her about the campaign, her life, her book, etc. But I bet she will ask her “Now Sarah, you don’t actually believe President Obama pals around with terrorists do you” you all know thats coming. Sarah can handle Oprah. I can handle Oprah for crying out loud, if I can do it, Sarah can do it

What makes me uncomfortable is her support for Rick Perry. I understand her support, since they were both governors last year.

Having this be live should be interesting. No way for Oprah and her minions to edit what she is saying. I think this is a win/win for Sarah. She will go on her show, promote her book, and also maybe change a few minds. Oprah’s audience are primarily Democrat, so who knows, maybe she will bring a few of them to her side

"I am gussing the publisher is just doing ‘the usual’ book promotion, without using their heads"

I personally predict the biggest audience in the history of the Oprah show, going away. And, the Oprah will be nothing but kind. She's lost to many viewers since she became overtly political. She cannot afford to come off as condescending, brash or rude.

It will be an interesting dynamic - and probably a boring dynamic - with both interviewer and interviewee in a position where they could lose. I'm sure both will end up being in a vanilla, make no mistake kind of demeanor.

Walmart and Amazon are riding her coattails as part of a pricing war, with Going Rogue down to $9. Might this just further fuel record sales?

And you betcha she’s going to deliver Oprah’s top ratings on the year for her—if not close to all time.

Liberal (women especially) see anyone making choices other than the ones they’ve made as being inherently

“judgemental”.

“Oh, I bet she thinks she’s better than I am because she
)Has a lot of kids
)Didn’t abort her baby
)Keeps in shape
)Has a wonderful husband/marriage
)etc

When, in reality, her choices are just that - her choices.

You raise a great point. Also, Oprah has an audience, which brings up a very uncontrollable element. They could be supportive. But, they could also be somewhat hostile, or worse, indifferent. I said up-thread that I don't believe Oprah will be tough - but, I could be wrong.

This will be an interview with tremendous potential upside for Palin, and will also pose some perilous downside as well. It will be the most viewed, most talked about interview since Nixon/Frost - of that, I have no doubt.

Sarah’s got a big natural advantage with moderate/independent women, which is part of what the media and the Dems and the RINOs have been working so hard to take away from her.

I think she knows she has to win them back if she stands a chance for the Presidency, and part of what’s needed is to

1) go to them directly,
2) act like she expects their support, and
3) give them respectful attention.

Going on Oprah is one way of doing all three.

yeah, for sure. However, a year has passed since the last election cycle. So, she should be more seasoned and media savvy than when she ran as McIdiot’s running mate. The Oprah Show will be a good litmus test to determine if she has stepped up her game during the past year. We’ll see...

Sarah is not the frontrunner right now. In fact, she has a huge mountain to climb. But Oprah's a good place to start, and I expect some land mines along the way. Oprah is a friend of the President, but I don't expect Oprah to sacrifice her credibility for the Obamas.

Best,

SNL was scripted, very low risk there. Submitting to interviews by Oprah or, for that matter, any network anchor is a mistake with a lot more potential for loss than gain. Sarah has already demonstrated that she can do the unconventional and come out on top, so why not do the unconventional again: Ignore Oprah, ignore ABCNNBCBS, and refuse any and all debates “moderated” by network operatives.
