“The book is Sarah Palin’s vehicle to get around the media and get her unfiltered message out to the people”

So I am assuming she will be selling these books at 1% above cost to reach a wider audience since it is all about the message?

Maybe Sarah has something to gain here. Oprah’s audience is mostly leftist women. Sarah has a chance to reach voters that she normally wouldn’t have much of a chance to. And if she makes a mistake, there’s plenty of time to recover. Plus, she’s probably a fan of Oprah — just like her kids were fans of Tina Frey, so she went on Saturday Night Live.

Dernblat, I hit post too soon. I was going to add that if Oprah recommends Palin’s book, it will stay in the best seller list for months, giving Palin a chance to reach that audience which is normally sheltered from conservatives.

I don't know what the cost of the book has to do with anything. Palin has nothing to do with that anyway. FYI, I ordered three copies from Amazon for $9 each, is that cheap enough?
