Dems change locks on Capitol offices; tell Repubs to get lost
Fox News Channel
| 10/21/09

Breaking on Fox/Cavuto. No Repubs now have access to any meeting rooms in the Capitol Building. Reid to hold fourth secret meeting on ObamaCare tomorrow. No one besides committee members to be allowed into any meetings. No press coverage. No statements. They are working on a 1,500 + page bill in an attempt to merge different versions.
A Dem liar is on Cavuto now saying that the process is indeed open and transparent because the Dems are releasing what information they feel like.
Has locking-out the minority party in Congress ever been done before?

I hope you see a change in 11/2010. I, however, have great faith in the RINO’s ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Certain 'rat committee chairs have done this in the past. I believe they changed the rules once the GOP gained the majority and made a quorum dependent on at least one minority member present. But these meetings are not a committee as I read it, just backroom politicking without formal standing under the rules. No doubt the pubs will accept being locked out with a minimum of complaint.

I think your right. The Dems have to go behind closed doors to twist some arms. This is the LBJ demmie party at work. So we should see a lot of republicans on air for the next couple of days talking about our secret government. They should also remind the viewers of the absence of integrity re- Rangle while they are at it.
To: pabianice
The GOP needs to go to court and get a judge to order that the Dems are violating the Constitution by blocking them from access to the Capitol where they must be permitted to do their constitutionally prescribed duties as duly elected Members of Congress.
To: pabianice
If this is true, then EVERY Republican senator (except the Maine delegation) should be holding press conferences and screaming bloody murder.
But they won’t, because they’re “collegial” and all that b@lls#it...
If one of those Dem liars dares to reache across that aisle they ought to yank his freakin’ arm out of its socket!

But, Obama promised us that negotiations and debates on major issues such as healthcare would be on C-Span. It was all part of his transparency ideas.
The watchword is now secrecy, isn’t it? Secret negotiations, and excluding Republicans, is now what will happen. And they will pass something with zero Republican support, and will use a nuclear option in the Senate to pass it there.
And the signing ceremony when Obama signs the bill will be closed to Republicans and Fox News reporters and cameras.
To: pabianice
Has locking-out the minority party in Congress ever been done before? Probably, but it was unlikely that transparency was ever ascribed to it.

Get some Republicans with balls , a good battering ram and tear the friggin door down.
Nothing gives the majority the right to spend my money changing the locks and locking out half of the Congress.
This has to be a violation of the Constitution, or the rules of Congress or both.

Locking out the minority party has been done before, in Germany circa 1933.

What would happen if ALL Republicans walked out and did not vote on anything or attend any meetings whatsoever?Something like that happened in Texas in the 1970s. Truthfully I forget which Party, but I think it was the Dems. They called themselves the "Killer Bees" and they all took off and hid and refused to come to the Legislature. THe Legislature could not do anything without this group. They sent the Texas Rangers after them, but it took a couple of weeks to round them up, as I remember.
To: Westbrook
At the county level we Republicans were “locked in” the County Courthouse by the Dem’s after a primary election. I guess we would have spent the night if it had not been for cell phones.
