When the cat's away the mice kill each other (0's Foreign Policy Agenda = Chaos)
Asia Times ^ | 10/19/2009 | David "Spengler" Goldman

....Like Poo-bah in the Mikado, the president seems to be Lord High Everything Else, Secretary of Everything and a non-stop presence before the television cameras. Some of his supporters are chagrined. The New Republic's publisher Marty Peretz, who evinces buyer's remorse over Obama's Middle East policy, diagnosed the president with "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" in his blog on October 4.

The reason for Obama's peculiar mode of governance, though, may have less to do with his apparent narcissism than with his objectives. It is a credible hypothesis that this president holds views that he cannot easily share, even with his own staff. As he told the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, he truly wants a world without superpowers: "In an era when our destiny is shared, power is no longer a zero-sum game. No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed."

What does Obama mean by this? How strongly does he feel that America should not be elevated above any other nation? There is some basis for the conjecture that his innermost sentiment is hard-core, left-wing Third World antipathy to the United States. It now seems well established that his autobiography Dreams of My Father was ghost-written by the former Weatherman Bill Ayers....

Interesting analysis, as always, by Spengler.

Perhaps more interesting: the growing consensus that the evidence that Ayers ghost wrote "Dreams" is now overwhelming.

Its my sense that he inhabits the Left not merely out of conviction but because he understands them in such a way that he is able to easily manipulate them. Yes, he is a man of the Left, but yes again, they are for him easy to manipulate.

Great article. He is certainly right in saying that if the big dog simply drops out of the game, the world at large is going to be a very dangerous and violent place.

Also interesting is his characterization of Obama as someone who has taken over an alien tribe. He is certainly not one of us, as in America loving Americans. I think it is very important that, as a result, he does not and cannot understand us and our belief in and love of this country and it’s liberties and traditions. He does not know how strong it is. He will fail. We will see too it.

Actually, a dominant power tends to produce peace, as did the Roman Empire (Pax Romana), the British Empire in the 19th century, and the U.S. in the 20th century. And far from causing war, our potent nuclear armament spared the world a Third World War, which the Soviets and Chinese would certainly have launched if the Left had succeeded in forcing unilateral disarmament of the West.
